Title: Director of Engineering, Web & Mobile | Influencer Platform

Reports to: VP of Engineering 

Job Purpose: We are searching for a seasoned leader with Mobile app and Web expertise to lead a team of talented engineers on multiple product development projects of moderate to large size and complexity while also strategically growing the teams and its members. As the leader of one of our core offerings, you will be responsible for conducting, leading and coordinating software development activities throughout the product development lifecycle as well as managing the day-to-day activities of the development team within an Agile Development environment.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue improvements in engineering and organizational process, gathering and using data to support and guide continuous growth in product excellence and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Support, Sales, Marketing, and Executive Management to ensure the development team meets software release schedules, goals, and objectives with high quality.
• Develop a team-oriented, supportive culture with a strong focus on creating a working environment that fosters creativity and open communication, as well as one that demands discipline and results.
• Build a first-class Engineering team that will scale as the company and business grows, identifying and filling any organizational gaps.
• Work with, train and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers to lead and manage their own teams.
• Constantly improve team productivity, refine agile processes, and create methods to increase efficiency.
• Investigate, analyze, and evangelize (if necessary) programming methodologies such as test-driven development, pair programming, etc.
• Perform personnel management tasks for all developers, including hiring, firing, performance reviews, promotions, compliance with company policies, mentoring, and helping plan career growth.
• Train new engineering managers and senior engineers on our standards, culture, and policies.
• Continually strengthen and simplify the engineering ecosystem.
• Report to the VP of Engineering, and communicate project status and risks.
• Encourage active participation in all phases of the project lifecycle, and work with project management to remove impediments and provide visibility to stakeholders.
  

Leadership Qualifications:

• Servant leader used to getting your hands dirty with your team, including participating in on-call rotation with your team.
• Proven experience in rapid, continuous releases, used to shipping multiple times a day
• At least 8+ years in leadership roles with a proven and consistent history of leading mobile and web teams
• Able to drive productivity and motivate a team to full project completion

Work Management/Communication Qualifications:

• Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills to mediate priority conflicts in an effective and collaborative manner
• Must work well under pressure, be sensitive to deadlines, be able to interact in a team environment, be able to adapt quickly to change, and possess good customer service skills.

 Technical Skills:

• 10+ years of iOS mobile development experience.
• History of building highly scalable distributed systems and processes in a cloud environment
• Experience with Swift, Objective C is a must. Vue is a bonus.
• Experience working in a Dockerized environment and AWS systems.
• Experience integrating 3rd party API's (REST, OAuth).
• Deep understanding and experience working on distributed/high trafficked systems, and preferably real-time systems and workflows with an emphasis on end-to-end speed.

Nice to have: 

• Backend experience building APIs 
• Previous experience in SEO
• Experience with non-relational databases such as DynamoDB, or Cassandra
• Experience working in eCommerce, social media or affiliate marketing space.
