Job Description:

The Director of Engineering - Communication Composition and Reporting role brings skilled expertise as an Engineering thought leader and partner to aligned product management teams, providing engineering leadership, fostering a vibrant community of growth, development, and continuous improvement across skillset disciplines.This multi-faceted role is critical to the development of customer-centric solutions founded on progressive engineering principles and disciplines.

We seek an outcome focused Engineering Leader to join the Enterprise Marketing Technology organization. This Engineering Leader will lead Software Engineers aligned to the Marketing Communication Product area. This Engineering leader will partner with other Marketing technology leaders in the organization to drive process transformation and Software Engineering Excellence.

Progressive Engineering Leadership:

• Provide Engineering expertise, thought leadership and consulting across Product Management, Engineering & Human-Centric Design disciplines.
• Provide technical and functional oversight with product management teams to ensure we are building the best products, platforms, and experiences for our customers.
• Work collaboratively with your squad leaders to prioritize technical efforts and provide input on product features and capabilities.
• Collaborate with architecture and Platform Engineering teams on setting technical direction and ensure alignment with our technology strategy.
• Ensure engineered solutions address scale, reuse, and high availability requirements by leveraging platforms and established best practices.
• Accelerate & increase efficiency by continuously improving engineering & operations practices.
• Engage as a Subject Matter Expert, staying abreast of and contributing to external industry trends, advancements, and innovations in technical areas of expertise.

Engaging Engineering Leadership:

• Successfully onboard internal tech teams and client technologists using internally owned product platform capabilities.
• Draft/review reusable/repeatable solutions and standards for adoption of internally owned product suite and services.
• Identify and design support for custom client needs (beyond internally owned product) and determine their potential as a standard product offering.
• Draft roadmap recommendations for platform and product development.
• Participate with Product leaders to architect product improvements.
• Support triage, create proof of concepts, explore alternate ways of executing technical requirements.
• Lead discussions related to implementation of product capabilities by liaising with business stakeholders, solution owners and engineers.
• Review design and implementation process to ensure consistency of the solution across business units and workstreams.
• Demonstrated experience in modern enterprise integration patterns, API Management, domain modeling & services development.
• Define milestones and plans to drive the organization towards Enterprise Platform adoption.
• Evaluate the Marketing technology vendor landscape and in-house purpose built tools to recommend an optimal engagement that will deliver enterprise wide value.
• Evangelize and advocate for highly scalable, efficient cloud native service architecture design and development.
• Participate in technical and architectural discussions across the enterprise to push for best practices and standardization.
• Operationalize the architectural designs and solutions into re-usable capabilities and patterns.
• Regularly provide guidance, training and coaching to team members to support performance and career development.
• Ensure technology decisions comply with enterprise architecture standards and strategies.
• Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market.
• Demonstrates ability to drive decisions through constructive debates with different engineering and architecture teams.
• Articulate technical solution options and patterns to the product owners and business leadership.

The Skills and Expertise You Bring

• 7-10+ years of work experience working within the marketing technology landscape implementing and onboarding various stakeholders on vendor based and / or custom-built tools.
• Demonstrable experience to lead adoption of relevant new and emerging technologies within Marketing Technology or Consumer Data space.
• Should have experience defining application architecture strategies and solutions, implementing digital marketing & communications platforms/solutions & developing APIs/systems integration.
• Demonstrated Experience in application architecture design and development on Cloud based infrastructure (AWS / Azure).
• Technical expertise and hands on software development experience using Java, Scala, Javascript (Node.js / TypeScript), Angular, Microservices, React JS, Python etc.
• Lead a team of engineers responsible for application development using marketing platform products owned internally and working with vendor partners to support business needs.
• Experience with product development and management of user interfaces, components and scripts for marketing applications.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and executing Agile principles
• Experience in migration and/or refactoring of on-premise software to cloud based solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in Application deployment planning, distribution strategies and configuration options.
• Proven experience in attracting, hiring, and growing a high performing team.
• Consults and sets standards for platform and application engineering based on a balance of agility, resiliency, performance, and cost management.
• Experience handling vendor relationships and influencing their platform roadmap.
• Experience working in financial services, media & entertainment or retail industry experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
