Digital AB Testing Lead

Are you excited by transforming digital customer experiences? Do you enjoy experimentation, innovation and using statistics to help companies improve results?

The Hartford is seeking a leader for our AB Testing and Digital Optimization center of excellence. This product owner role will partner cross-organizationally with digital, UX, marketing, research, business functions, technology teams, etc. to centrally manage and drive best practices for how The Hartford ideates, implements and monitors digital tests.

In order to be successful in this role, the individual needs to have a high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and ownership. Passion for customer experience and bias for data-driven insight to guide decisions and actions are crucial. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, and a clear preference for working collaboratively in a team environment are essential. This role demands a high performing individual contributor who is able to balance multiple responsibilities and priorities. The role will report to the Director of Customer Data within the Enterprise Marketing organization.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on AB testing tools and workflows, providing consultative support to areas at various stages of testing maturity.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to help identify testing goals that align with their product vision and epics (support but not own). Partner with these areas to build the "know how" of using web analytics and customer insights to develop testing backlogs
  • Prioritize and coordinate tests requiring vendor professional services or internal program development resources to build. Manage program financials and professional services hours, including chargebacks to areas consuming these services. Understand how The Hartford can more efficiently execute tests over time as the program scales
  • Support the growth of the program, including the addition of AB testing capabilities to new applications and platforms across the Hartford. Partner with digital Product Owners to stand-up technical capabilities, and help connect new testing resources to available trainings and best practices
  • Drive the culture of continuous improvement through AB testing, including the documentation of test learnings and integration into our UX practices as better ways of working are found. Help communicate and share learnings broadly through regular community of practice calls (a new routine you would help stand-up)
  • Report out to Digital leadership on the velocity of test builds, roadblocks, and overarching financials and results of the program. You will take an active role in defining the annual testing goals relative to the overall Digital strategy and remain accountable for reporting out progress. You will showcase how testing is driving maximum impact for Digital KPIs.
  • Own the vendor relationship with the AB testing platform, partnering with our procurement team to provide requirements for contract negotiations, and meeting regularly with the vendor to overcome obstacles and advance capabilities (i.e., submitting support tickets, seeking consultative expertise)
  • Own the continuous improvement of platform capabilities to support experimentation. This includes soliciting feedback from stakeholders on challenges interfering with the flow of test builds, and seeking existing best practices, process adjustments or new technical capabilities to minimize gaps
  • Perform regular assessments of AB testing landscape, including competitor scans (what platforms are they using) and industry research to bring in new ideas, speakers and thought leadership

While statistical and digital familiarity are important (understanding and interpreting A/B/n results), this role relies more on your ability to think creatively and influence your peers. Key to this role is an ability to play a facilitative role in the process, stepping back to showcase the macro-impact of testing and connecting the right resources to the right areas. A passion for continuous improvement will enable you to be successful in building the adoption and momentum behind AB testing, as well as a willingness to take ownership over the growth of the program

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in agile/product ownership, digital, marketing, technology, process improvement or related field
  • Hands-on experience with AB/multivariate digital testing platforms such as Optimizely, AB Tasty, Google Optimize, Adobe Target or others
  • Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority demands, manage expectations and achieve objectives
  • Strong individual contributor who can work in a team environment and navigate effectively with different constituencies in achieving goals
  • Ability to clearly articulate business requirements/user stories and translate business needs into digital experience solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading process optimization initiatives and/or process improvement skillsets (e.g., Six Sigma)
  • Experience with analytic tools such as Google Analytics, Glassbox, Tableau, Thoughtspot
  • College degree required with a business, math/statistics/data science, marketing/advertising, technology or closely related major
