Die Engineer - Secondary Tryout / FlexFab
Description
In this role, you would be responsible for coordinating the Secondary Tryout / Launch Manager processes in our Pontiac FlexFab facilities. This work requires some travel and is of the technical nature involving the coordination of a number of organizations, plants and personal. Work in this role requires an outstanding degree of creativity and strong technical leadership skills and decision making capabilities. A high level of independent judgment is involved in the work performed. You would also be responsible for implementing new plans and/or policies, programs and procedures in a highly technical and specialized area.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor all items relating to the Secondary Tryout process
- Provide on-site T-Event support
- Provide Body Shop launch support including feedback from Builds and issue resolution
- Communicates with feedback and foster forward emphasis
- Controls progress of projects with attention to schedules and downtime
- Stays in sync with terms of local and national labor agreements of many facilities
- Maintains safety standards
Other responsibilities will include:
- Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
- Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
- Advise the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
- Keep regular contact with partners outside the work group
- Provide direction to small group of technical employees
- Evaluate or supervise expenditures for processes and/or equipment
Additional Description Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of production and equipment technology for products involved
- In depth knowledge of secondary and primary tryout events and processes
- Deep understanding of stamping press types, automation and simulations
- Proficient in weld tool systems, checking fixtures, and ETACS
- Understanding of Design and Build team structure and process
- Broad knowledge of tool and die, die to press interface issues and stamping critical success factors
- High level of teamwork skills to work optimally with others, empower employees and elicit work output
- Stong analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Knowledge of TMaCS, SharePoint, ITP, QAB process, and basic mechanical concepts
Education and/ or Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent training
