DevOps Engineer

Work you'll do
This role is responsible for process automation software development, focusing on API development and maintaining a secure and compliant internal cloud environment for code execution. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in RESTful API microservice development, experience with multiple data representations (at-rest and in-flight) and transformations, fluency in communication with data scientists and software developers, and experience with and interest in cloud environment configuration while maintaining largely cloud-agnostic and portable code. You should be able to translate user stories and business-driven software feature requirements into simple development tasks with minimal external dependencies. You will maintain an internal cloud hosting environment for containerized Python microservices, multiple databases, high-throughput simulation outputs, and analytical script lifecycle management, while working with a team of data scientists, simulation designers, software developers, and marketing practitioners as part of an advanced analytics asset with high-profile clients in federal and commercial spaces.

The Hybrid Solutions and Incubation (HS&I) offering leads the development of major features and implementations, including helping to design the architecture for those features. This involves coding, testing, documenting, and helping to ensure successful deployment. Reviewing pull requests from other engineers are commonplace, as are pair programming and other similar duties. Our product and technical leaders collaborate frequently with engineers and rely on them to provide insightful feedback on the process, architecture, implementation, and quality of the product. Finally, our team troubleshoots issues in a timely manner which is critical to ensuring the stability of the platform and our client implementations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- 2 + years of experience with AWS
- Demonstrated experience developing RESTful API microservice applications
Preferred:
- Experience in Python, Docker, Kubernetes
- Understanding of CI/CD pipeline
