Your Role and Responsibilities
The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the Science and Forecast Operations organization. The Science and Forecast Operations organization is an unique team of highly skilled and motivated science and software professionals conducting end-to-end research, development and operations of weather and weather-adjacent data at scale to power worldwide consumer and business applications. You will join an energetic group of Devops Engineers within the team to develop and implement automation and deployment strategies across a compelling and heterogeneous set of weather applications in AWS and IBM Cloud. You will be empowered to collaborate with Technology colleagues across the company to advance and leverage emerging technologies and modern automation frameworks. Preferred locations: Atlanta, GA or Andover, MA
- Deploy, operate and monitor mission-critical, highly available weather-related software systems at scale
- Strategically manage and modernize platform architecture and cloud infrastructure
- Drive high availability and efficiency of operations through DevOps practices
- Integrate application and infrastructure security into DevOps processes and tools

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Linux server administration skills: 3+ years with any of the major distribution(s)
- Proficiency with any major cloud hosting provider (AWS, Azure, GCE, IBM Cloud, etc.) including managing infrastructure via IaC (e.g. Terraform)
- Working knowledge of at least one automation platform (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
- Experience creating and deploying containers (Docker, Podmon, LXC, etc.)
- Insatiable curiosity about how things work and a desire for continuous improvement
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Container orchestration experience (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, etc.)
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of TCP/IP and network protocols
- CI/CD experience (designing and/or maintaining)
- Experience automating Windows deployments
