Job Description

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Hire, mentor, grow, empower your team. Leading with example, motivate team to constantly learning and regularly challenge the status quo. 

  • Make hard decisions to balance short vs long term, build vs buy and other technical investments. 

  • Participate in-deep technical and product direction, with a clear understanding of the product roadmap and potential risks. 

  • Customer focused, understanding specific use cases from different groups and challenging the team to build solutions that reduce user issues and can be easily supported. Educate application developers on the best way to understand the runtime state of a product effectively through telemetry. 

  • Enable the creation and maintenance of SLO and SLA. 

  • Build necessary application infrastructure, including plans to roll out and continue maintenance to complete the telemetry solution. 

  • Collaborate with other SRE teams to build / leverage and use common solutions, preventing duplication of efforts across the firm. 

  • Take active role in companywide observability discussions, influence the decision of other teams to align with the same direction. 

Requirements & Qualifications 

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including: 

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience 

  • Passionate in observability domain, experience with solving large scale system telemetry problem. 

  • 10+ years of experience managing team and managing cross function projects. 

  • Expert practitioner in multiple technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm 

  • Experience with one or more cloud platforms like Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure 

  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the infrastructure components. (E.g. Routers, load balancers, cloud products, container systems, compute, storage and networks) 

  • Hands-on experience with cloud deployment, monitoring, and ops analysis tools such as Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, DynaTrace, etc. 

  • Expert in multiple technology stacks with designing, coding, testing, delivering software 

  • Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages: Python, Java, C, C++, Go. 

  • Experience with developing frameworks that helps increasing developer and release velocity, improving code health and technical standards 

  • Provide governance around adoption, and influence software engineering teams on roadmaps and designs 

  • Strong understanding of business processes and how they map to the technology stack. 

  • Strong customer focus and ability to build teamwork and partnership across stakeholder teams
