Job Description

Balsam International is looking for a Development Operations Engineer who will be responsible for utilizing technical expertise and experience in driving the design and automation of processes to support the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) of digital technology, enterprise systems, microservices applications and database services in the form of pipelines for the delivery of software across the enterprise, working collaboratively with our software engineers to design, build and deploy systems, thereby helping to automate and streamline operations and processes and following best practices for CI/CD across the full SDLC.

What you’ll be doing:

Design and Automation of Processes to Support CI/CD

  • Designs, builds, and supports the CI/CD infrastructure, and test automation frameworks for build validation and tools.
  • Designs, builds, and optimizes comprehensive automation systems that operate the business’s digital, enterprise, and data infrastructure platforms.
  • Automates software maintenance of applications like Jenkins, Sonarqube, etc. which are part of CI/CD pipeline.
  • Designs and maintains cloud-based solutions on Cloud services such as AWS, Google Compute Engine, Heroku, DigitalOcean, OpenStack, and Rackspace.

Ensure delivery of key business initiatives and projects in a timely manner through the agile framework

  • Takes part in problem-solving or brainstorming activities related to issues, tasks, plans, and experiments.
  • Contributes to competence improvement and growth plans of the team and the system.
  • Unblocks the team or business on technical challenges by providing alternatives and solutions.
  • Coordinates and communicates actively risks, priorities, and assignments of tasks for timely completion of deliverables.

Work collaboratively with our software engineers to design, build and deploy our systems 

  • Partners with software engineers and QA team to automate and streamline our operations and processes.
  • Participates in building and improving processes to gain efficiency.
  • Attends the Spring Grooming and Planning to contribute to the research and estimation of efforts for the task and/or requirements.
  • Updates Jira board on the latest status and progress of tickets being handled.
  • Attends and participates in the Sprint Daily Stand-up and Sprint Retrospective.

Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

What we’re looking for: 

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in designing and building frameworks and tools
  • Must have experience in the design and implementation of fully automated Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment pipelines, and DevOps processes for Agile projects
  • Must have experience in Java, Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes
  • Must have experience in systems automation, orchestration, deployment, and implementation, as well as have skills in scaling distributed data systems
  • Must have strong knowledge of SAP Commerce (Hybris)
  • Must be able to solve discrete problems under the minimal guidance of senior team members
  • Must be able to Participate actively in short- to medium-term projects. May be required to work as the lead on the project with team members and other functions
  • Must be able to Deliver high-quality results on projects of medium complexity within established timelines; attempts projects of high complexity with guidance
  • Must be an expert in role specific tasks and processes. Displays competency in function-specific technologies and tools. Confidently represents function across teams
  • Must be a clear communicator; presents material in a logical and efficient manner
  • Must be curious about self and other team members. When called upon, provides constructive feedback to team members and manager. Open to constructive feedback and developing own potential
  • Must demonstrate understanding of customer mindset in the execution of functional work

Nice to have:

  • Experience with other commerce platforms such as Commerce Tools / Oracle Commerce / Salesforce Commerce
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering or related experience in lieu of a degree

Location: The Development Operations Engineer position is a remote working position for Balsam International Unlimited Philippine ROHQ in Manila. Team members in the Philippines are located within Metro Manila, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, and Tarlac areas only.

Our must-haves: 

  • Must attend occasional in-person meetings depending on the status of the pandemic
  • Must have a fast, reliable DSL, Fiber, or Broadband connection (not mobile or broadband stick) as the primary internet connection with a minimum actual speed of 10MBPS
  • Must have a backup internet connection of the same speed, if the primary connection becomes spotty

Note: An online assessment will also be part of the recruitment process

Status: This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.

Hardware Provision: Company-issued Laptop will be provided on the first day.
