Developer Advocate

Apto Payments is transforming the card issuance industry. We help companies issue new cards with a better cardholder experience by removing constraints and enabling new use cases. Founded in 2014 as Shift Payments, the company worked with Coinbase to launch the first Bitcoin debit card. Today, as Apto, our mission is ambitious, creating new ways to connect people to their assets - crypto and non-crypto - by helping companies successfully launch innovative, user-centric card programs.

The Role & Opportunity
As our first Developer Advocate, you’ll identify opportunities to engage audiences to build awareness, excitement, and engagement around the Apto developer platform.
You will build and maintain a credible and robust presence in the developer community by writing technical blog posts, demos, and documentation for our APIs and SDKs. You will participate in community events, attend conferences, and host webinars to engage with our developer community.
As a key member of the Technology team, you will be the voice of developers in the company and help connect our developer community to our product and engineering teams. You will collaborate with our internal teams to help advance the roadmap, refine our market positioning, and drive key developer programs.
Responsibilities
- Increase adoption of Apto’s developer platform by working closely with our developer community to reduce the onboarding time, answer technical questions and funnel insights back to the team to improve the overall developer experience and technology
- Create and improve documentation working with internal stakeholders and other content to improve the resource offerings on Apto’s website, developer portal, Github and other developer channels
- Be an active contributor and member of our developer community by helping address technical questions and improve the quality of developer support in channels such as Slack, Discord and social media like Twitter
- Build/Create reference application to show off platform capabilities and write sample code in multiple languages as needed
- Speak at conferences playing a community-building role in the embedded fintech ecosystem
- Host webinars discussing various topics related to technology used by our platform (for instance security or API technologies)
- Contribute to opensource as needed
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional technical/developer experience writing software applications in one or more of the following: Python, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, C/C++, Javascript/Node.js, Swift/Objective C
- 3+ years of experience as a professional software developer advocate or evangelist
- Worked on Banking/Fintech related projects is a major bonus as well as blockchain
- Has contributed to open source projects
- Has done speaking engagements in conferences
- Experience hosting webinars and conferences
