What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible. We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies - building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the "extra mile" to achieve unthinkable results. It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world. If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

Design Verification Engineer - Graphics
We are looking for engineers who are motivated to challenge the status quo. If you are excited about building the next generation Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) , our team is on the lookout for you!

  • You will be part of a fast-paced team working on the GPU Shader subsystem, a team of engineers of varied disciplines who are responsible for micro-architecting, designing and delivering GPU Shader IP for various products. With every product generation, we challenge ourselves to improve area, power and performance targets. No idea is too small; we welcome every initiative that makes our product better.
  • You will be working on the SIMD Processor (SP) block within the Shader subsystem of the GPU. The SP block is the computational heart of the Shader subsystem. It represents the largest area and power budget within the subsystem and as such it has high visibility. The SP design, and by extension the SP Team, are critical to Shader success and must be high performing.
  • You will be working with the block architect, modeling, design and verification team members to develop a highly efficient superscalar SIMD processor. You will need to have a thorough understanding of the block instruction set and the block micro-architecture. Your job is to ensure that the block team releases a design that is highly robust and can be deployed reliably and on schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will provide Design Verification for graphics architecture, specifically in support of SP block team. Work involves activities and capabilities such as:

  • Collaborate with architects to understand block design
  • Create Test plans and supporting documents
  • Write tests, testbenches and test libraries
  • Verilog modeling, C++ modeling, interface checkers
  • Maintain regression suites and flow infrastructure
  • Execute and schedule regression runs, report regression results
  • Triage test failures to determine origin (RTL, model, testbench)
  • Debug test failures and correct test and testbench related failures
  • Work with design team to correct defects
  • Execute and review tests to meet functional and code coverage requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and ASIC work experience:

  • BS plus 6 years' experience
  • MS and 4 years' experience
  • PhD and 2 years' experience

SKILLS:

  • Must be proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog, C/C++, Perl, Unix shell scripting
  • UVM experience highly preferred
  • Background in Formal DV preferred
  • Good English understanding, speaking, reading and writing
  • Strong problem solving skills, good coding skill and style, good debug skill
