As a Deployment Engineer, you'll have an immense impact on Ada as we continue to grow our company and our technology.
The focus of Deployment Engineer is setting a standard of excellence that allows our Product and Engineering teams to deliver changes safely and frequently, experiment and validate new ideas, while our customers trust the availability, reliability and performance of our systems. We are empowering our Engineering teams and collaborating with other Infrastructure teams to achieve organizational goals.

About You

    • Profound appreciation and respect for automation.
    • Experience managing continuous delivery pipelines, coordinating deployments and releases while maintaining reliability and uptime, and having a customer first view of operational safety.
    • Strong understanding of a server-side programming language (must be proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Ruby, Haskell, Rust, Golang, JavaScript or TypeScript).
    • Curiosity about how things work and love to share that knowledge with others.
    • A positive approach that embraces standard methodologies for software management and reliability, including unit testing, code review, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
    • Experienced in reliability, scaling patterns, up-time, and availability.
    • A demonstrable history of thriving within a software development team, even if your roles have included traditional operations and/or infrastructure management duties.
    • Have good understanding of DevOps concepts and best practices.
    • Love working on a team where you constantly learn, experiment, and iterate quickly.

Key Qualifications

 

    • Experience managing continuous delivery in scalable cloud environments.
    • Strong understanding of distributed systems in managing customer-facing systems in 24/7 environment.
    • Excellent judgment and integrity with ability to make timely and sound decisions.
    • Ability to anticipate the needs of others and adapt to changing conditions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with modern observability and error management tools, such as DataDog, Sentry.
    • Have a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.

Nice to Have

 

 

    • Experience running production applications in kubernetes.
    • Experience developing and managing modern public cloud infrastructure, especially AWS.
    • Past experience implementing advanced continuous delivery features, such as gitops, canary, blue/green or rolling deployments.
    • Expertise in security and experience in addressing security vulnerabilities and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

 

 

    • Liaison with Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure and Site Reliability teams to enable safe deployments to all production environments.
    • Coordinate deployment of the changes which require a maintenance window.
    • Plan and configure deployment freeze periods.
    • Conduct deployment readiness reviews.
    • Create, maintain and improve continuous deployment pipelines and tools.
    • Partner with Development and Site Reliability teams to improve the reliability, resiliency, and observability of services
    • Work closely with other global Infrastructure teams.
    • Work with the Product team to have deployment excellence baked into everything we do.
    • Work in an agile development environment, attend ceremonies, accurately estimate story points, meet sprint deadlines.
    • Assist with identifying and evaluating new technologies and methodologies to solve complex problems.

    • Delivered proof of concept solutions to demonstrate how to bring our continuous delivery tooling to the next level.
