Job Description

  • As a Technology Reliability Test Engineer you will be responsible for developing test programs for use in the various facets of the reliability processes. You will be required to modify, write, and maintain stress and characterization (char) code in order to evaluate live die device reliability. In this role you will collaborate with partners in Design, Product Engineering, Fab and Global Quality group to evaluate and implement corrective action to reliability, design, and process issues.


Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Generate reliability stress code:
    • Understand front-end and back-end of line reliability mechanisms and their impact on long-term product reliability.
    • Develop, debug and support stresses test program on concerns highlighted reliability risk
    • Write test programs and support scripts in C++, Python
    • Guarantee through detailed checkout and verification process that stress pattern is producing intended device degradation.


  • Generate characterize circuit degradation:
    • Develop char tests to accurately measure device degradation due to stress mechanisms.
    • Generate custom patterns and char to catch targeted defect or failure modes.
    • Analyze reliability failures to determine the electrical signature and potential cause.
    • Provide failure data to appropriate group (e.g. Process, TD, Design, Fab).
    • Route reliability fails to Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) and help drive corrective action.


  • Provide reliability automation support:
    • Ensure code will run in production environment and log char data for reliability analysis.
    • Provide engineering support to reliability production issues to maintain 24x7 operation.
    • Coordinate with Production for hardware capacity.
    • Monitor reliability material as it progresses through stress.
    • Input into design and checkout of the tester hardware used for reliability.


  • Endeavor to improve all aspects of the reliability process:
    • Innovate the code development and verification process to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Improve communication with production to increase efficiency and reduce delays.
    • Write scripts to help analyze data more quickly and efficiently.
    • Participate in new design validation and debugging of software and hardware.


Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
