ClickUp is on a mission to make the world more productive. We're saving thousands of individuals one day a week with the fastest-growing productivity app of 2020. We're the breakout momentum leader in every G2 category we're in and ready to take off! Our app is the first of its kind to work for everyone from families to Fortune 500 companies.

ClickUp is looking for a driven and innovative Database Administrator on our DevOps team to help us make ClickUp the "one app to rule them all". As a Database Administrator at ClickUp, your primary role will be leading our globally distributed and cloud-based infrastructure that powers our app for thousands of users daily. You will also work closely with the other engineering teams in order to deploy, lead and maintain a highly secure and fault tolerant environment.

We have proven ourselves to be the very definition of a hyper-growth startup by growing to over 100,000 teams purely organically. Now, as the company turns its focus to marketing and sales, it is critical that our infrastructure can support an inevitable and drastic increase in load to ensure high standards of uptime for all our users around the globe, as well as develop repeatable, scalable, and predictable methods to release our latest features at an unmatched rate.

Collaboration and partnership are vital to how ClickUp operates. A significant portion of your responsibilities will include crafting or maintaining tools to improve processes across the different engineering teams. You will also be in charge of detecting inefficiencies introduced in different parts of the app and propose solutions on how to improve them. A highly developed set of communication skills is also important for successfully fulfilling these responsibilities and many others.

We’re scaling quickly, so we’re recruiting teammates who share our core values, know how to get sh*t done, and would add a lot to our very driven culture.

The Role:

  • Participate in designing, building, testing, and maintaining systems for maximum performance, reliability and scalability.
  • Supervise and analyze database performance. Adjust or suggest improvements to database or server configuration as appropriate.
  • Work with the engineering teams on product design, decisions and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and improve the engineering team's ability to rapidly and safely deploy database updates.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot events while actively developing safeguards to prevent them.
  • Participate in disaster recovery design, testing, and execution.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the engineering team and contribute ideas to our technology, infrastructure, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing and tuning large production-critical PostgreSQL database systems, or similar relational databases. Experience in logical & physical replication, as well as PostgreSQL architecture, is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience with TSQL and are comfortable writing, explaining, and tuning queries for accuracy and performance. Should be able to suggest index additions, modifications, or removal or denormalization techniques with appropriate evidence.
  • Experience with management of Linux-based instances (Ubuntu or CentOS).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and monitoring tools.
  • A strong self-starter, operationally-focused; a problem-solver.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity or experience with connection poolers (e.g. pgPool, pgBouncer) or other associated database scaling technologies is a plus.
  • Experience & knowledge of the Amazon Web Services ecosystem (Elastic Beanstalk, Ec2, CloudFormation, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity or experience with database and application security is a plus.
  • Familiarity or experience with configuration management tooling (e.g.: Ansible) is a plus.
  • Familiarity or experience with Node.js is a plus.
