Mainframe Computing (MC) is a technology enabler for the business by providing a strong, resilient, and stable platform to host and enable business innovation/growth in our lines of business and global locations. MC consists of experienced administration, operations and engineering staff required to support the platform. In addition to flexible hours, the Firm enables its staff to work remotely. The mainframe engineers work with the latest hardware and software technologies. The IBM z platform and the mainframe disk and tape technologies are frequently refreshed across our datacenters.
The Db2 for z/OS Systems Engineer will be part of a global team of experienced Db2 systems programmers who provide critical support services for Db2 on z/OS including database related software installs/upgrades, 24x7 mainframe production support, subsystem performance analysis/tuning, capacity planning, resource utilization, troubleshooting, and vendor management.
Responsibilitie
The Db2 Engineer will be a member of the global technology team working on Db2 projects and requested workload.
Provide complete software product life cycle support for mission critical products using various z/OS and Db2 tools and techniques.
Triage and troubleshoot Db2 related failures/issues/outage
Manage Db2 and OEM software related defect
Participate in regular system and database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirement
Understanding of regulatory, legal and compliances issues for SOX and audit function
Interface with appropriate software vendor personnel
Interface with senior management
Off-hours on-call support
Qualifications:
Skills Required
Minimum 5 years of systems programming experience with Db2 for z/OS in an enterprise environment
Experience supporting a multi-terabyte environment with high throughput OLTP application
Working knowledge of Db2 OEM software product installation and support
Experience with DB2 for z/OS, version 12
Working knowledge of DB2 internals, fundamentals, installations, and operation
Working knowledge and experience in a Db2 data sharing/Parallel Sysplex
Knowledge of systems performance tuning and capacity planning
Knowledge of security interface with Db2
Experience with SMP/E
Experience with installing and using Db2 Data Server Driver
Strong z/OS, USS, and JCL skill
Experience with REXX coding
Working knowledge of CICS
Provides troubleshooting, technical and operational support as well as escalate when appropriate
Exhibit good time management skills, independent thinking and decision making capabilitie
Clear, concise and effective written and verbal communication skill
Working knowledge of MS Office suite for management reporting purpose
