MetroStar Systems is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer that is passionate about security and vulnerability remediation. If you want to join a company that values risk management and security control standards and are open to commuting to Reston, VA, we want you to work for MetroStar!

  • use Vulnerability Assessment Tools to identify and track system vulnerabilities
  • like collaborating on technical solutions and process improvements
  • enjoy vulnerability research, event analysis, and identifying security weaknesses
  • are passionate about getting the word out on good security practices and emerging technologies

You'll love our opportunity if you have (This is the stuff you MUST have to be a fit):

  • 2+ years of experience with Tenable Nessus or Rapid7 InsightVM
  • 4+ years of experience doing system administration and maintenance (updates & vulnerability remediation)
  • knowledge of windows and networks, SIEM Tools, and Linux and cloud infrastructure platforms
  • an understanding of risk management & security control standards (NIST, ISO, etc.)
  • a bachelor’s degree

We'll REALLY love you if you have (This is the bonus stuff that makes you stand out):

  • a CISSP / CYSA/ Certified Ethical Hacker or Security+ Certification
  • experience with Splunk dashboards, reporting, and investigation
  • knowledge of Endpoint Management and Configuration Policy Systems
  • obtained or enrolled in a program for a masters or post-graduate certificate in cyber-security or information science

What your day will look like:

  • You'll work daily with a small team (under 10) to identify system vulnerabilities, drive technical staff on remediation, review security aspects of change management, and enhance processes such as incident and disaster response, security automation, control monitoring, develop security reports and dashboards
  • You'll also provide status updates, alerts, security trends, and other industry knowledge to technical staff and operational team leadership.
  • You'll provide day-to-day support of vulnerability scanning and SIEM tools
