We are hiring an Cyber Security Architect for our Olathe office. Works with Operations and Security Architect leverages information technology to improve Garmin's product development and delivery capabilities. Key in this effort is strong partnership and relationships with the product delivery teams at Garmin and deep understanding of both information technology and product development in order to understand opportunities to improve IT's ability to enhance Garmin products. The Operations and Security Architect will provide architectural, project, and strategic guidance to the IT teams to ensure that these opportunities are fully supported.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and foster relationships with key Engineering and product development teams at Garmin to ensure excellent communication and partnership between Engineering and the global IT organization.
  • Coordination of Engineering and Information Technology departments on the integration of IT systems and technologies as they relate to new product development
  • In depth research and understanding of IT technology to assess the practical applicability in Garmin product development
  • Establishing product development IT requirements, build actionable plans, and ensure the execution of the plans and delivery of solutions
  • Work with Engineering and IT to define future IT technology roadmap as it relates to supporting and improving product development
  • Leverage proven IT technology to help solve critical product development challenges and optimize product delivery
  • Understanding of key product development processes and technologies to support identification of opportunities for IT improvements
  • Key designer of Garmin IAM strategy
  • Trusted lead resource to IAM team
  • Opportunity to modernize the identity/security landscape both on prem and in the cloud
  • Opportunity to expand influence into other areas of Cyber Security



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in defining IT system configuration requirements in order to support product delivery
  • Communicates information effectively to team members and project stakeholders.
  • Participates as needed or required in regular or special meetings of the Engineer and IT teams to address the IT strategies, their integration, their progress and/or issues needing promotion or problem-solving.
  • Exhibits a customer/supplier philosophy that emphasizes both internal and external relationships. Identifies both customer and supplier needs and expectations and strives to exceed them.
  • Work with system analysts, developers, administrators and users to design systems that best meet user requirements
  • Requires daily use of considerable discretion and judgment.
  • Attends and actively participates in department and facility meetings and classes.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality through knowledge of its precepts, skillful workplace applications and continuous organizational improvement.
  • Actively participates in and encourages others to utilize creative and innovative approaches to accomplish tasks.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or Management Information Systems AND a minimum of 10 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • IAM Experience
  • Knowledge of analysis, design, and configuration of complex IT applications, local and wide area networks, heterogeneous server systems, and regulatory and security requirements.
  • Proven track record of project delivery - including the coordination and management of projects in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully coordinating teams and multiple projects.
  • Experience with formal software systems change control techniques
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Demonstrates proficient organizational, problem solving and project management abilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to influence others without direct control and/or authority.
  • Able to communicate complex issues in both oral and written form in terms clearly understood by highly technical and non-technical audiences.



DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in a nationally accredited project management discipline (i.e., PMI, PMP, Six Sigma, Unified Rational, etc.)
  • Experience with high volume internet and ecommerce systems
  • Experience with automated testing tools and testing procedures
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), FCC Section 5 or other regulatory issues.
  • Understanding of SDLC(Software Development Life Cycle) methodology
