The silicon computing development team is seeking passionate, driven, and intellectually curious computer/electrical engineers to deliver premium-quality designs once considered impossible. Our team is involved in numerous projects within Microsoft developing custom silicon for a diverse set of systems ranging from traditional computing solutions to artificial intelligence and augmented reality. We are responsible for delivering cutting-edge, custom CPU and SoC designs that can perform complex and high-performance functions in an extremely efficient manner.
In this role, you will:
  • Learn the architecture and microarchitecture, working closely with the design lead, verification lead, and microarchitect
  • Participate in the development of random assembly stimulus and related tools that run on-device in prototype and silicon
  • Craft random stimulus (assembly- and sequence-based)
  • Implement an automated process to generate and compile native and third-party test code
  • Define, document, and implement from-scratch test plans based on architectural and micro-architectural specifications for targeting various functions and features
  • Develop regression strategy to execute test code as needed for design releases and compliance requirements
  • Debug hardware fails
  • Drive verification efficiency by contributing to methodologies and tools
  • Interact with adjacent teams to contribute to common verification strategies, test plans, and horizontally reusable verification collateral
  • Mentor and coach team members and summer interns
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience working on pre- or post-silicon functional verification and validation of computing elements such as CPUs, GPUs or similarly complex verification environments using SystemVerilog or C++
  • 3+ years of experience working on complex CPU architectures and general computer architectures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have at least a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree or equivalent work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of verification principles, testbenches, stimulus generation, SystemVerilog, UVM/OVM, and coverage
  • Extensive experience debugging RTL and SV using waveform viewers and HW/SW debuggers within a simulation environment
  • Assembly programming experience in industry standard ISAs
  • Proficient experience writing scripts/software with industry standard languages like Python or C/C++.
  • Proficient communication, collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams.

  • Experience building and optimizing simulation, emulation, and/or FPGA verification environments, tools, flows, and methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile software practices
