Job Summary
The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
One of the key capabilities at The Aerospace Corporation is the Concept Design Center (CDC), which is an internationally recognized center of excellence in collaborative, concurrent design of space and ground systems that draws on technical experts from across the corporation. The CDC uses a concurrent engineering method and analytical models to develop concept designs of space systems that estimate performance and life cycle costs (see our CDC video at https://aerospace.org/video/concept-design-center).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create and maintain capabilities that make CDC compatible with Aerospace’s digital engineering environment, specifically:
- CDC database used for real-time data exchange between different tools during collaborative design studies
- Collaborative simulation capability… connecting simulation tools with a cloud environment
- CDC web services interface to enable Aerospace users to search, mine, and access concept study data
- Web interface to “onboard” customers seeking CDC services
- Mechanism for “Digital Deliverables” such as dashboards that dynamically organize study data and display results (vs. traditional document reports)
- Mechanism to pull data into a corporate data warehouse so others can use data for their analyses
- Repositories for space system descriptive models, including SysML models of spacecraft and architectures
- Help develop CDC teams, facilities, and processes to improve support to Aerospace customers
- Maintain multi-site and virtual CDC capabilities. CDC lab facilities are in multiple locations, and unclassified studies may also be performed by teams from home.
- Identify opportunities to implement Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices in the studies
*This position is available as Level or Level 2*
What You Need to be Successful
