Orbis is seeking a Software Developer with Windows C# .NET XML development experience to support and manage our XML content management system. This includes the maintenance, extension, and tuning of the database, as well as supporting and extending our product requirements for publishing and content creation workflows.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop intuitive user interface using the Windows 10, .NET/C#, WPF framework for desktop applications.
  • Develop custom UI components for use in applying semantic markup of document text.
  • Develop REST API Web Services
  • Develop software that interfaces with Mark Logic databases.
  • Author and edit design documentation, SOPs and configuration documentation.
  • Work with team lead and customers to define requirements and product design.



Experience and Skills
Mandatory Requirements & Qualifications:

  • US citizenship
  • Fluent in English
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field.
  • 3+ years developing intuitive UI using Windows 10, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) framework for desktop applications or similar experience.
  • Experience developing custom UI components used in text and XML markup
  • Experience with ASP.NET, WCF, WPF, MVC
  • Demonstrated experience in developing quality, maintainable and well-designed software.
  • 8+ years of experience with developing applications with C#/.NET web and back-end functionality using Microsoft Visual Studio or similar experience.
  • Good understanding and practical experience with OOA/OOD/OOP.
  • Configuration Management experience, tools such as Git will also be plus.
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Experience working with stakeholders and business analysts to gather business requirements to derive functional and non-functional requirements.


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with MarkLogic or other NoSQL DB.
  • Application development on top of MarkLogic infrastructure
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML development: XSD and XSLT
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong focus on problem solving and identification of systemic issues that can lead to an optimized process or workflow.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to help resolve a wide range of issues.
  • Ability to work with various size teams across the organization in different locations.
  • Publishing workflow experience is a plus.

Work Hours & Location:
This is a full-time, remote or on-site, exempt position with hours of operations from Monday to Friday, between 8 am to 5 pm. Office locations in Annapolis, MD; Brookfield, WI; Colorado Springs, CO; Orlando, FL; and Durham, NC.
