Job Description Our Global Technology Infrastructure group is a team rewarded with innovators who love technology as much as you do. Cloud Solutions Architects will be individually deployed, or (more likely) leveraged in small groups to embed with large applications and/or pair with a set of smaller workloads to provide infrastructure and cloud expertise to the application organization. This role will serve as subject matter experts in helping the application team to establish a migratory strategy, assess their roadmap, and establish optimal path into the public cloud. Here we are looking for a T-shaped technologist with development breadth, and depth in cloud infrastructure.
Key skills to look for include:

  • Deep knowledge of public cloud platforms and services; can tradeoff between services types including fully and self-managed offerings from AWS or similar large public cloud provider.
  • Deep understanding of software design patterns. Can decompose monolithic application models into modern service based (avoiding using "buzz word" here) models.
  • Strong infrastructure experience including Operating Systems (UNIX / Linux /Windows) Network, and Modern IAM systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of emerging and existing technologies (understands gaps in public cloud services)
  • Ability to communicate risk, opportunities, and complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to persuade and contextualize solutions for application teams (needs to be able to convince the application teams to adopt their solutions)
  • Strategic, plans well, and can see both high level and detailed steps to correct for any issues quickly.


Core Engineering:
The core engineering team will build and operate reusable services either shared by application teams and or supporting services/harnesses not provided by the core JPMC functions. Candidates on this team should be well versed in cloud services, infrastructure, and services, but may have more of a traditional (modern) development background and skillset.
Looking for:

  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems (this is key as the services operated by this team will need first understand where to align in the application stack)
  • Demonstrated Experience in Cloud Services (candidates need to understand what services are there to build upon, and what can be reused with no reinvention required)
  • Experience with databases including SQL and NoSQL (not a data architect, but will understand how to construct full stack services)
  • Proficiency in languages commonly used in web application development such as JavaScript, Python, Java, HTML, and CSS
  • Track record of learning quickly (learning the markets portfolio of applications, and how to compliment the work of the cloud SA team)
  • Ability to influence others and collaborate across teams
  • Strong sense of ownership ("you build it, you run it" mental model)
