Cloud Solutions Architect
Duties and responsibilities:
The Cloud Solutions Architect provides strategy and architecture leadership for Donaldson's use of cloud environments and technology. This position engages with multiple IT and business teams to ensure the company's cloud usage meets business requirements, attains high security standards, reduces complexity, and scales to meet demand while remaining cost effective. Working together with IT and business partners the Enterprise Cloud Architect will create, refine, document and communicate Donaldson's cloud strategy, architecture and roadmap. This is a forward-looking technology ownership position and requires continuous research regarding how new and emerging cloud capabilities may best be leveraged to facilitate and deliver the company's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Defines the enterprise cloud strategy and architecture and works with senior IT stakeholders and executive leadership to develop a compelling and articulate roadmap for that strategy.
- Establishes the cloud governance framework including structure, process, stakeholder roles and responsibilities and decision making to ensure the approach is measured, balanced, and right sized for Donaldson and our IT maturity and delivers value to the business.
- Understands business requirements and pain points, and works directly with domain architects, developers and operations personnel to relate these to cloud technologies and drive cloud adoption across the enterprise.
- Uses deep cloud design and build experience and skills to define, design, implement, secure, govern, manage, integrate and automate a distributed computing fabric.
- Identifies the necessary organization and personnel including 3rd party providers who have the appropriate skills and experience to supplement design and implementation efforts.
- Provides leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to solution architects and technologists.
- Helps define the overall Enterprise Architecture framework and policies defining IT enterprise strategy, application road maps, architecture principles, standards, and best practices
Minimum Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to reside and work in the United States as a US Person defined under EAR PART 772 / ITAR 120.15.
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other related technical discipline
- 8+ years of IT and architecture experience
- 4+ years in leadership role influencing and making key strategic technology decisions
- 4+ years of experience and expertise in implementing Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and services
- Advanced understanding of project management, monitoring, control, and execution in an Agile/DevOps environment
- Extensive knowledge/experience with cloud architecture principles, patterns and technologies, including:
- Automation - continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Cloud PaaS - including hybrid and multi-cloud solutions
- Cloud Security - principles, tools and management platforms
- Integration Technologies - API management, Message Queueing, Event Driven Architectures, Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS)
- Network Virtualization and Micro-segmentation - principles & technologies
- Cloud Management and Monitoring Platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing and documenting enterprise architecture standards
- Certified or experience with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks such as TOGAF, DoDAF, and Zachman
- Experience with IT Governance frameworks (ITIL, DevOps, SRE, COBIT, NIST, ISO)
- Scale-out Architecture - cloud native architectures, loosely coupled applications, stateless systems, microservices, containers and orchestration platforms
- Resiliency and Availability - architecture and design principles
- Advanced knowledge of relational and No-SQL databases, cloud storage, identity platforms, network firewalls and load balancers, and configuration management tools.
- Experience at factoring operational cost into infrastructure, architecture and service decisions.
- Experience in directly managing a team of architects or engineers.
