Why this role matters.

Vonage’s Information Security Team is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer o to design and deliver continuous improvements to our production systems, delivery mechanisms and tools that build and secure them. The role requires good understanding of AWS, strong fundamentals of Linux and cyber security. The role is placed in a cross-functional and growing security team responsible for security processes and compliance, application, infrastructure and product security. You will be working with the SRE team, developers, architecture and other engineers to design and deliver best in class security by default in complex systems, and implement defense solutions.

What you will do

• Design and deliver tools that enable security by default
• Identify threats and implement defensive measures
• Review changes to our infrastructure for potential security impact
• Train and work with other engineers to design secure solutions
• Assist in incident response
• Assist in the development and roll out of encryption technologies where needed

What you will bring

• Good understanding of cloud infrastructure
• Solid cyber security and Linux fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with containers and orchestrators and their security implications, including securing the developer pipeline
• Fluent in at least one scripting language (i.e. Python, Bash, Ruby)
• Experience working with SIEM, IDS/IPS, SOAR solutions, Jenkins, other DevOps tools 
• Good communication skills, ability to understand and communicate risk

What is required for application 

• Strong experience in software architecture and development and/or network engineering
• Experience in network, system, or software security; design, implementation, support, and evaluation of security-focused tools and services
• Ability to stand firm on Security First best practices even when challenged
• Good knowledge of AWS, container orchestration and securing the development pipeline                                       
• Proven history of working independently, gaining alignment from others, and leading cross-organizational projects with minimal oversight

Nice to have

• Understand the security of Telecommunication protocols, such as WebRTC and SIP.
