What You'll Do
Cisco Cloud Security is a leading provider of network security services, enabling the world to connect to the Internet confidently on any device, anywhere, anytime. We build and operate highly available and distributed cloud-delivered security solutions critical to the success of the next wave of innovation in the security industry.
As a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technical Leader, you are a vital member assisting your manager in building and supervising the NOC team's day-to-day activities. You will work closely with the NOC leadership to develop and operate Standard Operating Procedures and help us migrate, launch and manage the next generation of the entire Umbrella cloud security platform in an AWS GovCloud-native environment. This charter enables Umbrella to expand its access to the US government and other public sector market opportunities. Our current focus is on the platform's FedRAMP (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) authorization.
As the most senior engineer within Umbrella's FedRAMP NOC, your success in this role is highly reliant on your ability to learn all technical aspects of the Umbrella cloud security platform and its supporting automation tooling and use your expertise to train a fully remote NOC team on how to manage and troubleshoot incidents.
About you
You have experience operating a high-transactional, 24x7 production environment and working knowledge of Cloud Computing using various AWS services. You understand Layer 2 switching and IP routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF. You are comfortable using a Linux shell and know your way around file management, package management, virtual environments, and checking system log files. You have been a senior engineer in a NOC or similar technical support function before and thrived in that environment.
This role could be a good fit for you if several of these apply to you:
• Must be a US Citizen residing within the continental US.
• You've been the go-to person for technical help in a multi-functional team, and you like working in an agile environment.
• Experience running customer facing production services in AWS using EC2, VPCs, S3, RDS, Lamda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, etc.
• Experience supporting full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.
• Good knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience using monitoring tools to identify problems.
• You are interested in operating large-scale cloud-based services. You know your way around a Unix terminal and have built or deployed applications using various cloud technologies.
• You value building interpersonal relationships and understand the importance of having team members who can rally behind an initiative together.
• You love learning and paying it forward by inspiring others. Small teams that do big things need big ideas and people interested in bringing these ideas to fruition.
• Experience writing scripts in Python and using Git repositories is a plus.
• The ideal candidate will have had previous experience building or supporting infrastructures hardened to meet FedRAMP, SOC2, or ISO27001 compliance.
• Understanding of distributed computing environments and methodologies.
Your typical day will vary, but this is what you will be doing:
• Help supervise the day-to-day activities of a group of FedRAMP NOC engineers.
• Troubleshooting technical problems within a highly-secured AWS-native platform.
• Ensure incidents are worked promptly and with quality, and what can't be fixed is turned over to the next shift or escalated.
• Triage trouble tickets for technical support and drive to resolution.
• Manage ticket escalations and coordinate support from different teams.
• You will be a point of escalation for NOC teams and will be expected to be an active participant in leading major incident calls.
• Develop policies and procedures to enhance workflow efficiencies and ensure SLA compliance.
• Lead the team in documenting standard operating procedures and creating runbooks from lessons learned before resolving tickets.
• Work to improve NOC monitoring and alerting continuously.
• Participate in on-call rotation for impacting incidents and escalations.
• Guide your team through fixing major incidents and continuously train and grow your team to become exceptional engineers.

Why Cisco
#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.
We connect everything: people, processes, data, and things. We innovate everywhere, taking bold risks to shape the technologies that give us smart cities, connected cars, and handheld hospitals. And we do it in style with unique personalities who aren't afraid to change the way the world works, lives, plays, and learns. Some may think we're "old" and only about hardware, but we're also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can't put us in a box!
Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we're "old" (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we're also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can't put us in a box!
But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)
So, you have colorful hair? Don't care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That's cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us!
