What you will be doing

Summary:

  • Individuals in the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering role are responsible for executing the strategy set by architecture.
  • They are responsible for designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining and optimizing the IaaS/PaaS and operations (Infrastructure), in accordance with security policies and guidelines.
  • Additional functions and processes include service and product management, performance and capacity management, patching and version management, and Level 3 operations support.
  • Individuals in this role design and build the systems operating environment to meet business requirements.
  • They are also responsible for the design and implementation of the cloud network, IaaS and PaaS services.
  • They diagnose system failures and take corrective action in order to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Members in this role need good communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively with system users and other technical colleagues.
  • Individuals coordinate and work on multiple cross-functional initiatives/work groups and projects as a team member, sometimes as a team lead or advisor.
  • People in this role will develop/build complex systems that may have system-wide impact and integrates across the organization, along with complex infrastructure solutions.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a Cloud Engineer you will help drive the technologies, designs, and solutions to enable large scale multi-cloud governance, advance DevOps automation, and the associate self-service capabilities necessary to ensure that ABC operates efficiently, securely, and financially well-managed in the public cloud space.
  • This position will be a key contributor in the success and rapid growth of public cloud usage at AmerisourceBergen.
  • Establish standard and reusable cloud based application architectures that can consumed by the enterprise and various application teams
  • Build and maintain cross cloud resource visibility, oversight, and corporate policy automated enforcement solutions
  • Determine and establish best practices and standards normalized across all cloud providers
  • Enable resource provisioning automation at scale and drive the use of DevOps best practices
  • Focus on cost control strategies and driving cost and usage efficiency
  • Design and execute migrations for complex, multi-tier application to the public cloud
  • Manage and deploy cloud environments that meet or exceed our usage and security standards
  • Work in tandem with our application teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions
  • Train teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required
  • Build and design services for the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services


What your background should look like

  • Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant technology work experience.
  • Relevant certification is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
  • Experience with general IT concepts beyond their primary discipline
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; effective team player
  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize work load
  • Understanding of ITSM
