What you'll be able to do:

  • Design and build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and future cloud technologies.
  • Develop and integrate Cloud-First initiatives and infrastructure, such as Pivotal Cloud foundry (PCF), Containers-as-a-Service on OpenShift (Kubernetes), GCP IaaS and PaaS.
  • Enable and assist Ford product teams to work with agility and velocity in migrating their legacy applications to newer hosting platforms.
  • Mentor and coach team members on DevOps, CI/CD, Software Configuration, and Test Automation.


The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on direct responsibility for deploying IT infrastructure, services, and applications.
  • 2+ years experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, or other Cloud native platforms.


Our preferred qualifications:

  • Professional-tier certification in GCP, AWS or Azure.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language - Ruby, Python, Bash and PowerShell.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Relational SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis to support automation in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Experience using containerization and software defined infrastructure, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Vagrant or RedHat OpenShift.
  • OS knowledge on multiple platforms (Windows, RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu etc.)
  • Automation experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines using Tekton, Jenkins and/or Terraform.
  • Deep understanding of software configuration management, including branching strategies, dependency management, packaging, etc.
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile environment using Rally and/or Jira.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate technical issues to both non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Systems administration (Linux and Windows). Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware).
  • Basic monitoring and logging experience - Splunk, Dynatrace etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, can-do attitude.
