Architect wanted for Central Performance Foundations team

Central Performance Foundations (CPF) is dedicated to owning and delivering foundational tooling for Salesforce performance efforts. The outcome is next-generation solutions that simplify the lifecycle of performance engineering assessments in both production and lab. This will empower Performance engineering to deliver in the public cloud and in the future serve as the foundation for Hyperforce customers to conduct their own performance evaluations.

Falcon Performance Service, is the product of this vision, and it is live on Hyperforce serving multiple clouds and hundreds of performance engineers. We have a roadmap to expand its capabilities to serve our first-party deployments and our public cloud deployments. We also support the technical stacks of Salesforce acquisitions.
Our service is built on AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Spinnaker, Terraform, Argo, and other leading cloud technologies.
The service is in Go and Javascript. We maintain a 99.95% service availability. Early warning forecasting is our predictive alert solution to identify future issues in production. This service is built on Python, data lake, Tableau, and Slack. These works are critical to ensure Salesforce can sustain the tremendous growth we have seen in our transaction and data volumes.

As an architect and product owner, you will envision, craft, develop, deploy and lead the end-to-end full service.
You will deliver awesome solutions that solve real problems.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Hands-on architect that will lead by example
  • Eloquent and vet the scope, size, impact, risks, and feasibility of technical projects
  • Lead development teams in a full-service ownership model following Agile methodologies
  • Handle DevOps activities for owned services in a 24/7 runtime environment, including driving investigations to resolve root cause and implement solutions
  • Drive research, case studies, and prototypes on leading-edge technologies and how they can be demonstrated
  • Review proposed commitments from teams by providing critical assessments on risks and the feasibility of estimates
  • Assist in the growth of employees through mentor, training, and career development activities
  • Get along with industry specialists, vendors, partners, internal staff, and auditors
  • Work optimally as part of a geographically distributed team
  • Evangelize and drive commitments across teams
  • Ensures that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available


Successful candidates will have the following skills:

  • Deep understanding of AWS fundamentals and infrastructure as code
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Spinnaker, Argo, and related technologies
  • The mentality of delivering working products to customers over architectural purity, focusing on real-world solutions.
  • Demonstrate a consistent track record of working with Engineering leaders to deliver projects that are impactful to our customers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Confirmed ability to run meetings and make presentations to internal and external audiences, senior leaders, conferences, and industry leaders


Required Experience

  • Industry experience. 15+ years of experience in software development, including:
  • 5+ years experience in SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS software development
  • 5+ years experience in a high-availability 24/7 environment (cloud platforms are a plus)
  • Education. M.Sc/M.Eng in Computer Science/Engineering or B.A/B.Sc. in same subject areas with equivalent years of experience
  • Platform development. Proven track of designing, coding, and delivering large-scale PaaS or IaaS systems, especially on public cloud substrates (AWS/GCP)
  • Programming. Proficiency in object-oriented and multi-threaded programming. Develop hands-on, code review, and guide engineers in either of the following languages: Go, Javascript


Responsibilities & Duties

For Colorado-based roles: Minimum annual salary of $121,800. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. More details about our company benefits can be found at the link below.

LOCATION: We are open to Fully Remote, Flex (1-3 days/week in the office), or Office-Based (4-5 days/week in office) work arrangements.
