Title: Category Principal Engineer
Location: Remote (Must be based anywhere in the US)
Reports To: Senior Director, Product & Tech
The Category Principal Engineer will be responsible for the technical direction for Paylocity's product solutions. This includes working with our Core Architecture team to establish and evangelize standards, working with Product Owners to make sure the technical needs of the system are prioritized, coaching and mentoring more junior, but very talented, Software Engineers and Development Leads and contributing working code to our Payroll solution. In conjunction with the Core Architecture team this position will drive the adoption of new technologies, identify and develop re-usable components and perform architectural enhancements in order to maintain a stable HCM solution that will scale to meet the needs of a rapidly growing business.

• Expertise in front-end technologies: React, Angular, Vuejs, Micro Frontends
• Expertise with multiple databases technologies SQL and noSQL
• Expertise with automated unit testing patterns and tools
• Expertise in Containerization, K8, Service Mesh
• Expertise in Data Streaming technologies: Kafka, Kinesis, or similar
• Expertise in security best practices
• Expert in multiple languages including C# or Java
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Math or related experience
• Knowledge of Payroll is a big plus

However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
