Mission of the Position
Perform CAE, CFD and thermal simulation activities for product/system creation, and/or verification for all innovation and development projects, utilizing internal and with external resources. Responsible to ensure product meets performance specifications prior to creation of physical prototypes. Use analytical tools to determine root cause and design changes required to remedy premature failures. Provide expert advice as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Systematic use simulation early in the design process to prevent failure modes in products and assist in problem resolution.
- Apply engineering principles and simulation techniques to guide the creation of new and modification of existing product/concepts.
- Develop 1D/3D component & system level thermal simulation models for electric vehicles.
- Perform multi-disciplinary & coupled CAE simulations across thermal, structural and CFD domains.
- Development of thermal simulation methods and the integration into existing/emerging engineering development processes.
- Developing, maintaining, and overseeing CAE plans to ensure objectives and deliverables are predictably and consistently achieved.
- Develop and deliver the internal and external presentations and interpretation of results for design reviews.
- Keep abreast of CAE / CFD technology trends in the automotive/powertrain industry for planning projects.
- Understand and define the CAE / CFD hardware and software needs of the Department to ensure success.
- Create manufacturing feasible new product concepts by applying engineering principles and analytical techniques.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years related work experience in thermal CAE. Experience in powertrain systems preferred.
- Significant experience in thermal analysis for electric vehicles
- Strong product development, planning and analytical skills.
- Experience with CAE software like KULI, ABAQUS, ANSYS, OpenFoam, StarCCM+ or similar tools
- Demonstrated proficiency in simulations and analysis tools and methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skills.
Work Environment
Office environment; 20% travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
