CAD Engineer
What You'll Be Doing
Responsible for creating the Motional Branded drawings and CAD package based on documentation provided by our suppliers. Work cross functionally to gather details required for proper documentation. Maintain processes necessary for rapid development.
Detail-oriented problem-solver, able to employ critical thinking and time management skills and can work effectively both independently and in teams. Work with people of diverse backgrounds and develop creative and innovative ways to improve processes.
- Help develop documentation standards for the Hardware Engineering team
- Generate and modify CAD parts and assemblies; includes part/feature libraries, vehicle assemblies, and vendor supplied CAD models
- Generate CAD drawings (detail, section, and assembly); apply drafting standards/best practices
- Support product development and sustainment projects as well as department projects
- Work with designers, engineers, and technicians to ensure documents are complete and accurate
- Perform drawing checks and process change orders (ECO/CO)
- Manage file organization, references, and metadata
- Resolve design and CAD problems
- Manage bills of materials
- Create drawings with Bill of Materials
- Help manage CAD library
- Help execute change orders in update BOMs accordingly
What We're Looking For
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related commensurate experience
- Thorough understanding of Mechanical Drawings and Electrical schematics.
- Experience with CAD data management systems, SolidWorks PDM preferred, BOM development and BOM management.
- Minimum of 3 years experience using 3D CAD tools (preferably Catia V5 or SolidWorks).
- Strong background developing 2D layouts in Catia or SolidWorks.
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Experience working with PLM tools
- Thorough understanding and experience with automotive and consumer electronics connection systems.
- Candidate must be willing to take ownership of the CAD documentation process from start to finish. This includes design, release, coordination with internal and external fabrication teams, schedule management, vehicle installation support, and change management.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to proactively coordinate with other team members to ensure that designs meet or exceed expectations.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel programs and/or Google Docs and Sheets
- Experience with Jira a Plus
- Possess a strong work ethic to support the production team efforts and timing
- Ability to multitask across various project activities and work with a global team
