Job description:

Blackstone's DevOps team is responsible for providing runtime and automation solutions that empower hundreds of developers to migrate and run workloads in the public cloud. DevOps engineers rely on software engineering principles and an "automate everything" mindset to deliver powerful pipelines and orchestration platforms necessary to drive the next wave of innovation of the firm.

The position involves design, implementation, enhancement and support of our CI/CD frameworks, container solutions, runtime environments, and supporting public cloud infrastructure. As the technical lead for the DevOps team, you will work closely with our platform engineers, security experts, and software developers across the firm to enable their applications in the cloud, provide self-service tooling, modernize deployments, and evangelize best practices. The DevOps technical lead will also be responsible for managing a team of talented DevOps engineers and participate in developing the technology roadmap for cloud engineering in general.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage team of 6-8 DevOps engineers as well as overseeing project-based consulting engagements
  • Leverage infrastructure-as-code frameworks to provision and maintain cloud resources
  • Build, maintain, and manage clusters for technologies like Kubernetes
  • Support containerized workflows and applications
  • Research and deployment of new technologies to continue to drive innovation
  • Improving the software development process across teams
  • Define team roadmaps, goals, and objectives



Qualifications (Required):

  • At least 3 years' experience with the following:
    • Working with public cloud providers (AWS)
    • Team management
  • At least 7 years' experience with the following:
    • Configuration management
    • Application deployment and infrastructure automation
  • Experience with modern SDLC practices
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
  • Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting networks and distributed systems
  • Ability to work closely with development teams to find solutions to technical problems
  • Hands on experience creating and managing Kubernetes clusters in different types of environments
  • Familiarity with access controls, secrets management, monitoring and service discovery
  • Deep understanding of web technologies
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills



Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience with Windows based environments
  • Experience with Linux networking and application performance analysis using standard Unix tools
  • Experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, C#, Go, or java
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible)
