Battery Electronics Development Engineer

Role Summary
We are looking for a high-performing Battery Electronics Development Engineer who is responsible for planning, developing, and executing system and subsystem level tests in a world class development facility. This role involves integrating and evaluating performance of wireless battery management electronics hardware, software, and communication systems.
This is a hand-on opportunity where engineers work closely with the design/release, vehicle integration, and laboratory organizations to develop our next generation of electric vehicle battery packs. This is an assignment where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute first-time capable test plans. Track and report on test progress and issues
- Integrate hardware & software releases to test benches & conduct performance evaluation testing
- Conduct battery pack testing for wireless battery management systems performance
- Support vehicle issues root cause & resolution
- Actively participate in Product Development Teams and work with Technical Experts & Suppliers to evolve test methods and solve product-related problems
- Utilize and create post processing tools to assure data quality and track usefulness of data in generation of final calibration or reports. Analyze data and communicate test results
- Develop and implement standard work processes and procedures globally
- Support math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math based models and data analysis
- Train, mentor, and develop new engineers
Additional Description
Required Skills and Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with high voltage systems, battery systems, or electronics
- Demonstrated Drive for Results
- Excellent Planning and Problem-Solving skills
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish Peer Relationships.
- Ability to prioritize work and resource, and work independently with minimal direction
- Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems
- Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results
- Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 6+ years of experience working with high voltage systems, battery systems, or electronics
- Exposure to laboratory or vehicle testing and/or software development
- Programming knowledge with LabView, MATLAB, C++, Python, etc...
- Working knowledge of EV propulsion systems architectures
- Sound understanding of Battery / RESS functionality
