The Community Support Platform (CSP) team builds world-class tools for our global organization of Community Support ambassadors. Your work on CSP will empower our support ambassadors and help ensure our guests and hosts have an amazing experience on Airbnb 24/7 and 365 days a year.
Backend engineers architect and build our core systems that power our tools and products.
We build abstractions to make our lives easier. We have knowledge and experience that spans backend application architecture, data, networking, databases, caching, and more. We have high standards for operational quality. We use our collective experience to build the best backend services in the world.
Responsibilities
- Work with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and other engineers to architect systems, build features, and ship experiments
- Build efficient and performant backend systems
- Find and address bugs and performance issues
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Identify and communicate best practices
- Collaborate with people on the team and across teams
Requirements
- 6+ years of industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of Java, Kotlin, Nodejs, and at least some familiarity with Ruby
- Experience with modern backend development and tooling
- Familiarity with server-side web frameworks, ideally Ruby on Rails or Dropwizard
- Understanding of data structures and problem solving approaches, and ability to articulate trade offs
- Passion for creating highly usable tools for our growing global workforce
