About the Role
We have established a world-class Rider Intelligence engineering team to build critical machine learning solutions and frameworks to empower Uber's core Rider products. Our team's mission is to serve the ML needs of the entire Uber Rider organizations (> 200 people). In this role, you can have a significant impact on a wide range of Uber rider products and Uber consumers. We work on everything from enhancing rider growth and deepening engagement to growing Uber's footprint in the multi-modal trip marketplace. You will be on a super collaborative team designed to maximize your ability to deliver results. What You'll Do
  • Design and deliver software and tools to productionize the ML solutions at scale.
  • Building scalable and shareable ML components, such as retrieval and ranking ML systems to support various ML use cases within Rider.
  • Working closely with ML-Infrastructure teams and driving efficiencies in systems and processes through automation: configuration management, performance tuning, monitoring and root cause analysis.
  • Helping setup the right tech / tools / processes to speed up experimentation velocity
  • Participate in periodic on-call rotations and be available for critical issues
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience coding using general purpose programming language (eg. C/C++, Java, Python, Go, C#, or Javascript)
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two (2) years of software engineering experience
  • A strong focus on execution, delivery, and customer impact.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & influencing engineering excellence within your team across the entire development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Proven experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
  • Proven experience working with ML models, technologies, and large scale retrieval and ranking systems
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
