The Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Digital Technology product management organization is seeking a Back-end Software Developer for the development of Interval & Cost Estimator (ICE) NexGen, a simulation platform & visualization product that enables several Commercial Engine After Market teams with various analysis.

This position will be responsible for understanding the workings of a mathematical simulation model, developing, testing, and maintaining the technical components of ICE NexGen product and assume overall technical duties including developing prototypes, developing software, unit testing, maintain code repository, deploying code to various environments, peer review for quality, documentation, and configuration of underlying technologies.

The selected individual will work with other stakeholders for providing guidance and implementing solutions powering the use of ICE within the company

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead senior software engineering tasks for ICE NexGen product's planning, building, and deploying critical functionality working in a cross functional team utilizing agile software development methodology.
  • Implement complex development and software configuration tasks requested of the team
  • Lead implementation and support of migration of backend existing code base to cloud native services (Azure/AWS)
  • Experience with data modeling, data architecture, and query creation for relational and transactional database or database solutions
  • Web Solution development, Design Principles, Object Oriented Design, Service Orientated Architecture, scripting practices, or micro service experience/RESTful services
  • Implement unit tests, functional & non-functional tests, integration tests along with software development
  • Provide guidance, problem solving and peer programming support for the rest of the Front-End developer resources on the team.
  • Constantly monitor and continuously improve management of codebase and code itself to meet software development standards agreed upon by the team.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the data sources feeding the data platform today and build relationship with the data owners/stewards to understand the business context of the data sets that are being utilized in our applications today.
  • Implement API and connectivity solutions across digital products.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizen (required due to Government contractual requirements)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of back-end technologies development experience
  • Required skills: Python (Flask), SQL Technologies (T-SQL, Synapse), No-SQL Technologies (MongoDB, CosmosDB), Redis Cache etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure / AWS native services and implementationsExperience with DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub, OpenShift).
  • Understanding of software development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery.
  • Experience with application scalability and performance testing.
  • Agile trained and or certified, full understanding of Agile software development life cycle and participation in ceremonies.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical plans to technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders at all levels of organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with high degree of accountability.
  • Skills: Azure Spark, AWS/Azure, NumPy, Dash, Plotly, VBA, multi-threading, multi-processing, software performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated capability in making timely, difficult decisions to ensure project priorities meet critical business needs and timelines.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all levels within the company as an "active listener" and then execute results.
  • Diligent, disciplined, reliable and strives for highest quality work.
  • Experience in Agile methodology and working with highly skilled front and backend software engineers, along with UX designers, analyst, and DevOps.
