Role and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for maintaining an AWS software environment to include the operations of the servers and AWS configuration, code development and deployment, and version control in a code repository.
Specific roles on this project inside an AWS environment include managing: (i) EC2 instances for developing, testing and deploying software; (ii) AWS serverless components such as Step functions and Lambda processes; (iii) Github code repositories; (iv) developing scripts/code in Python for data ingestion/transformation and (v) integrating with both data sources and target visualization services (Tableau, Socrata) via APIs. At least 50% of this role will be developing data pipelines to pull datasets from remote APIs, transform them via Python Panda data frames, and storing the data in an RDS database. Familiarity with data models and experience coding in Python are strongly desired.
Required Skills
- Experience working with AWS
- Serverless components including Step functions, Lambdas and Lambda layers (1+ years)
- Managing EC2 servers including snapshots and restoration
- Using AWS Secrets Manager to manage credentials
- Application development
- Python development (3+ years)
- Proficient in debugging with IDEs
- Javascript and CSS (2+ years)
- Github experience (2+ years)
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years of relevant experience
