Impact in this Role

The Business Applications team implements business software across Fictiv’s departments.


As the Atlassian Application Engineer you will administer and lead implementation of changes and improvements to Fictiv’s Atlassian Confluence and Jira applications across multiple cross functional teams in support of business needs. You will work with multiple stakeholders and must be a strategic partner in determining best practices, automation and efficiency gains, as well as overall process improvements. You will analyze objectives, create new workflows and troubleshoot errors.


This role requires extensive experience working with Atlassian Cloud products including Jira Software, Jira Work Management, Jira Service Management, Atlassian Access, Confluence, Atlassian Marketplace Apps, Atlassian Automation and OpsGenie. This role requires a deep understanding of SSO using OKTA. You will be responsible for understanding requirements, defining architecture, working with a cross-functional team to create implementation plans, and providing thought leadership for all solutions to meet and exceed expectations.

Additionally, you will partner closely with the Product, Engineering, Process Engineering, IT, Operations and Infrastructure teams to provide the team guidance and specific expertise on your area of specialty with regard to development practices, QC testing in development environments, software specific standards, customization approaches and integration approaches. You will own the stability, security, data accuracy, uptime and issue resolution in your area of specialty. 

You will report to the Chief Information Officer.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Subject Matter Expert on all workflows end-to-end, customizations, marketplace apps, management and configuration in Atlassian Cloud, identifying dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management.
  • Partner with all cross-functional teams to determine needs.
  • Develop customized solutions, including design, implementation, quality control, end-to-end testing plans in multiple environments (dev/test/stage/prod), troubleshooting and bug fixing.
  • Create timelines, set expectations with IT and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain the security and data integrity of the Atlassian Cloud implementation.
  • Install, configure and administration of the Atlassian Cloud implementation.
  • Own stability of the applications to Engineering standards including, incident management, monitoring, alerting and incident resolution for all aspects of the Atlassian Cloud products.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and add-on integration issues in the Atlassian Cloud implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to ensure changes to implementations and integrations are gracefully handled.
  • Determine ways to optimize/improve setup and workflows, as well as identify where functionality may or may not meet user requests.
  • Develop metrics dashboards and advanced filters to provide end-users and business leadership with meaningful operational/performance metrics and status reports.
  • Use Atlassian REST APIs to develop one-off solutions for integrations with other tools, automate manual processes, data migration routines and extract data for reporting and analytics purposes.
  • User management and support for users, manage system access across groups to ensure compliance, and maintain best practices.
  • Create and manage security schemes, custom fields and configurations.
  • Install, manage and administer add-ons, plugins, and extensions for Atlassian Cloud products.
  • Develop process workflows for Jira including field configurations, screen schemes, permission schemes and notification schemes 
  • Research, Diagnose, and Monitor performance bottlenecks.
  • Act as a mentor to less technical stakeholders with best practices.
  • Write documentation and provide technical training for cross-functional teams.
  • Enjoy working with remote teams and people that have strong opinions

Desired traits

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience in a related role
  • 2+ years of Atlassian Cloud experience, configuring, managing and/or developing workflows and custom apps using automation in Atlassian products.
  • 3+ years experience in application development and/or software engineering with experience using scripting languages in a workflow automation capacity Python, NodeJS and Bash.
  • Atlassian Certifications of Jira Service Project Administrator, Confluence Administrator, Jira Administrator, DevOps, ITSM, Agile at Scale will be preferred.
  • Proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis with an excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience developing customer-facing workflows across all Atlassian Cloud products.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian Cloud configuration, management and API.
  • Strong systems knowledge with the ability to effectively utilize DevOps tools such as Metadata API, GIT, Visual Studio Code, Jenkins, Mulesoft, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Product development lifecycles.
  • Experience with leading and coordinating cross-functional initiatives, conducting interviews and performing analyses to create business cases for projects.
  • Experience performing live training sessions for internal and external stakeholders during system and process implementation.
  • Must have strong leadership and communication skills, and possess the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people who have strong opinions.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills and the ability to lead large projects autonomously.
  • Exhibits a high level of initiative and integrity and is empathetic to the needs of individuals across the organization
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking self-starter, who is comfortable not knowing answers, but resourceful and able to resolve issues or shift priorities. 
  • Strong project management, presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Strong in documenting business processes and communicating system requirements
