Responsibilities

Principal Global Investors is looking for an experienced Software Engineer Leader to work with our Client Experience Technology team. The product data software management team is a key data enabler that powers many of the digital client capabilities we own with the other Go to Market & Client Operations areas within PGI.

This unique opportunity allows you to help drive business priorities today using a modern technology stack, while also scaling our existing solutions for the future.

Software Engineers in this space help to build the data mart and all integrations that support these functions. This work will primarily happen within AWS, with some on-prem legacy support. Technologies include Python, Pyspark, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, and many others.

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you'll do:

  • Work with business partners to understand data and needs and identify business growth opportunities enabled by technology
  • Create and communicate a bold direction that inspires results. Create strategy and paint the picture for others surrounding appropriate principles and practices that result in a stable, valuable delivery system.
  • Think globally (across teams, across programs, across business unit). Work to create resiliency in both systems and in processes.
  • Expand and optimize data and data pipeline architecture
  • Regularly deliver software on-time and constantly work to make accurate estimates and deliver on those estimates.
  • Manage and develop staff in an effective manner to promote individual development, improve retention, and ensure success in a team environment.
  • Drive DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation.
  • Set technical direction for the team in proactively establishing controls and ensure system is secure and meets policy and regulatory requirements during development.
  • Ability to demonstrate design thinking and create solution architectures. Own design and solution architecture for team's work; can span multiple systems.
  • Know the latest industry trends. Nurture external contacts and peer group interaction. Advise business partners on future technical trends/directions to meet business strategy initiatives.


Qualifications

We're looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience, plus 8+ years of relevant experience; prefer 4+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience in data and software engineering/programming
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, analytical, and decision making skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are vital
  • Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow


Additional preferred technical experience:

  • Asset management experience
  • DevOps
  • Cloud platforms (we use AWS)


Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range

$127000 - $179000 / year
