Primary Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Product Development Teams to acquire a thorough knowledge of the requirements, based on which they will recommend the software and create high-level diagrams of the infrastructure required. This includes servers, space/volumes, security policies, IAM roles, Application folder structures, Load balancer and Database flow.

  • Conceptualize the backup and recovery methodology, RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) of the entire technology stack
  • Develop Disaster Recovery site with failover architecture with minimal/near zero data loss
  • Analyze the load and traffic that shall be coming on the new server in accordance with the type of instance selected either m3.xlarger or m5.xlarger
  • Perform a thorough study of the EBS volume to get an optimized result and perpetually monitor the cost of AWS which includes services like EC2 servers, ALB, S3, VPC
  • Monitor budget allocation to various teams and raising an alarm if the cost supersedes the provisions provided
  • Perform sanity test to avoid any issues
  • Server provisioning: Work towards launching varied servers of the form ec2 instances, spot servers, spot fleet servers on the AWS cloud
  • Analyzes the load and traffic that shall be coming on the new server in accordance with the type of instance selected either m3.xlarge or m5.xlarge
  • Moreover, he/she does a thorough study of the EBS volume so as to get an optimized result and perpetually keep an eye on the cost on AWS which includes services like EC2 servers, ALB, S3, VPC
  • This role also includes monitoring the budget allocation to various teams and raising an alarm if the cost supersedes the provisions provided. Before releasing the server, he also performs the sanity test so as to avoid any issues
  • Product architecture design: Work alongside the Product development teams to acquire a thorough knowledge of the requirements, on the basis of which he needs to recommend the softwares, create a high level diagram of the infrastructure. This includes servers, space/volumes, security policies, IAM roles, Application folder structures, Load balancer and Database flow. In accordance with their role, conceptualize the backup and recovery methodology, RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) of the entire technology stack. Developing the Disaster Recovery site with failover architecture with minimal/near zero data loss
  • Development & automations: To make system compliant, he/she enforces the users to have very limited access to the server to make the system overall efficient. He/she has designed several automated jobs on Jenkin tools for instance, restart of tomcat/ Jboss services, Import and export database to another database, to upload/download the file from server to desktop and vice versa. Subsequently, new job requirements come along after conducting a meeting with QA & DEV Team. He/she has created several AWS Lambda using python to monitor the AWS resources that include server cost, missing/mismatch tags on the servers. Amongst other things that he/she has worked upon is, a web application developed in Java used by Dev and QA Team to stop and start the servers in congruence with their needs. Several team members are guided by him/her during the automation of any new requirements. He/she is also responsible for creating Chef Cookbook for any software installation on the server, sustaining chef databags for application password management, environment attributes, chef roles and node integrations
  • Employ best practices and provide training: He/she has been conducting training in a fastidious manner, on newly furnished softwares, any new automations and implementations. This helps the team members to have updated knowledge which flourishes the productivity and enhances the quality of the work. He/she also helps in inculcating the best practices that define standard release process, implement standard naming conventions for version control, publish and implement continuous PITR(point in time recovery) etc. So far, he/she has conducted trainings on AWS, python, Shell scripting, Jenkins Jobs among others
  • Team management: A team of 6 is being led by him in the Indian region wherein he shoulders multiple responsibilities. He/she allocates the work and the issues to the resources in accordance with the work load. Moreover, he/she meticulously tracks the work that is being executed and hold meetings for the same on a regular basis. He/she furnishes a feedback of the resources on a quarterly basis and submit it to the manager of the US region alongside whom he works to design the quarterly goals for the resources. He tracks these period goals in a scrupulous manner and he further coordinates with his team members to create a shift roster and availability subject to the comfort and requirement
  • Production and Demo environment readiness: He/she holds the responsibility of creating the structure for Production and demo environments as they are distinguishable from the QA and DEV. There are more security policies which need to be adhered to. He/she even makes sure that all the services are always up and running finely for marketing team during demos to external clients
  • This role is Remote Nationwide

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years of equivalent DevOps experience
  • 6+ months AWS training or experience
  • 6+ months Linux training or experience
