What You'll Do

As a senior software engineer you will work with business analysts, team leads and other developers, contributing in architecture, design and development of scalable & resilient hybrid Cloud-based solutions supporting critical financial risk management activities. You will be mentoring and collaborating with developers, architects, and product owners to drive the strategy of transforming the enterprise into a data-driven organization. The Senior Application Developer will be a team player and work well with business, technical and non-technical professionals in a project environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Interpreting business/technical requirements to create high-quality code that functions according to specifications.

  • Individual contributor responsible for design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

  • Should have hands-on experience in developing software with agile or scrum methodologies and are ready to lead our junior developer's team

  • Should have an innovative thought process and creative thinking which can bring out of box and alternate way of system implementation

  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient application programming solution.

  • Assisting other developers with code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and coding

  • Follows agreed upon SDLC procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meeting both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented.

  • Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements.

  • A major influencer & strategic thinker, this person should also mentor developers and collaborate across multiple cross functional teams to achieve the desired outcome.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in application programming development on JAVA 8 or higher version.

  • 5+ years of solid, diverse work experience in the financial industry and fundamental understanding of Risk and Risk based systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands on experience with functional programming, frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot, multi-threading, caching, large & disparate data sets persisting & retrieval mechanisms, highly distributed systems, RESTful services, performance tuning, streaming frameworks

  • Experience with high speed distributed computing frameworks involving MapReduce techniques like Apache Spark, Kafka Streams, Apache Flink etc. is desirable.

  • Experience with distributed message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, etc. is desirable.

  • Strong development, coding, testing (JUnit, TestNG) and debugging skills

  • Experience with Amazon Web Service or any other cloud-based storage systems, Gradle, KAFKA, CI/CD tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins etc., Redis

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in application programming development on JAVA 8 or higher version.

  • 5+ years of solid, diverse work experience in the financial industry and fundamental understanding of Risk and Risk based systems
