About the job
The Red Hat Pulp Engineering team (https://pulpproject.org) is looking for an Associate Manager, Software Engineering to join us in Raleigh, NC or within the U.S. Eastern Time Zone. In this role, you will be responsible for helping the team deliver Pulp features and fixes for the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. You'll build, organize, and manage a globally distributed engineering team. You'll also coach and mentor team members and participate in team performance reviews. As an Associate Manager, you will suggest improvements to internal processes and regularly develop new and innovative solutions for technical issues. The Red Hat offices in Raleigh, NC is the preferred work location, though well qualified applicants within the U.S. Eastern Time Zone will also be considered.
What you will do

  • Hire, lead, coach, and develop a motivated, engaged, and globally-distributed team of software engineers
  • Prioritize and manage the work by developing a roadmap and setting goals
  • Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to increase the team's capabilities
  • Implement ongoing quality improvement processes working with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure delivery against established goals and objectives
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and stakeholders; foster collaboration with other teams
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks for yourself and your team to meet the needs of stakeholders


What you will bring

  • Leadership experience through direct people management, team lead activities, or project management
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to network and establish solid working relationships with your peers and colleagues
  • Excellent presentation, persuasion, and relationship-building skills; ability to communicate complex problems in a non-technical and simplified manner
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Background in computer software development is a plus
  • Familiarity with various deployment models, including cloud, virtualization, and shared data sets is is a plus
  • Experience with repository management software or package management solutions is a plus
