About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an Associate Integration Engineer to join the Integration team supporting TelCo 5G offerings. You will be part of a team responsible for designing and implementing the container platform for 5G telecommunication companies and contributing to industry-leading technologies in the Kubernetes ecosystem. As part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with multiple Red Hat engineering teams and open source communities around the globe. To be successful as an Associate Integration Engineer, you will need to have motivation, curiosity, passion for problem solving, and experience with TelCo technologies, Linux, Kubernetes, and open source. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Have an active role researching and then integrating various Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and TelCo features into an unified solution
  • Deploy, automate, demonstrate, troubleshoot, and document integrations
  • Develop and integrate changes in multiple projects to troubleshoot, analyze bug root causes, and provide resolutions
  • Review and validate design, enhancement proposals, and patches from other members
  • Work with the quality engineering (QE) team to ensure effective test coverage
  • Publicize the team's work through blogs


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, ideally with an internship experience
  • Experience with or knowledge of automation tools or scripting languages like Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Bash, or Python
  • Experience with or knowledge of networking technology like server, switch, or appliance configuration, key networking protocols, tunneling technologies, switching, and routing
  • Proficiency in Linux operation and administration
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform technologies
  • Familiarity with open source projects like Git workflows
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in diagramming tools which enable you to visualize and talk through solutions to gather consensus on proposals


The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Open vSwitch (OVS), and Open Virtual Network (OVN)
  • Experience with container related technologies like Docker, Podman, cri-o, or etcd
  • Experience using, supporting, or troubleshooting various virtual network functions (VNFs) or cloud-native network functions (CNFs)
  • Comfortable providing support and knowledge transfer for other teams as they onboard with new technologies that you are familiar with
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) qualification or equivalent Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) knowledge
  • TelCo-specific knowledge and experience
  • High availability
  • Experience with performance characterization and optimization
  • Experience with network function virtualization (NFV) architecture
  • Experience with edge designs
  • Experience with open radio access network (O-RAN) architecture
