We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as an Associate Engineer in Mossville, IL.
The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear & Maintenance Components, e.g., Steel Products (Undercarriage and GET) and Specialty Products (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As an Associate Engineer, you will have the responsibility to manage the global strategy for design and application of Caterpillar machine linkage systems. This role will enable the development of key leadership skills to build strong and strategic relationships with both machine business unit process partners and strategic suppliers. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. This role will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects associated with NPI, CPI, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Enterprise Strategic Initiatives. Finally, this role will allow incumbents to stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members and broaden your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the implementation of new materials and heat treats to extend the service life of linkage pin joints. This will include defining the strategy to implement and validate such new materials and processes and defining the impact or improvement that these processes have on durability
  • Develop strategies to incorporate machine telematics and use that information to offer life prediction for linkage joints
  • Develop design standards and analysis methods to design linkage pin retention systems
  • Responsible for developing global linkage pin suppliers


Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited university/college earning a minimum Bachelor's degree in one of the following degree programs: Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Materials Science Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding)
  • Graduation date between December 2021 to August 2022


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience with stress/strain, load analysis, prints, tolerancing and materials
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices for precision machined and heat-treated components
  • Experience utilizing analytical software/programs to analyze data
  • Experience with Welding and Material Coating processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal partners
  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills


Additional Information:
This position does offer relocation.
This position requires 10% or less travel.
