Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Solutions Architect. The Cybersecurity Solutions Architect will evaluate and establish security strategy, identify and analyze security risk, and set security architecture and standards.

This individual can work at any Collins Aerospace domestic location or remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with peers, business leaders, product managers and the broader digital technology community, to architect for today, to re-imagine the future and to bridge from today to that future.
  • Create and articulate future state architecture via a narrative document, complemented by a detailed strategy, which contains the relevant architecture & design artifacts enabling the business strategy and delivering value our customers will recognize.
  • Collaborate with peers in security, solution, and technical architecture, with respect to the refinement & evolution of security architecture processes & practices, focused around Togaf and Zachman frameworks.
  • Continuous "outside-in" scanning, to facilitate continuous learning, hands-on understanding, and adoption of Security Architecture industry standard methodologies & techniques.
  • Capture customer use cases and security requirements. Research vendors and technologies to meet those requirements, and score solutions to determine the optimal system outcome.
  • Assess and characterize security risk for currently implemented systems and systems to be built. Recommend security risk mitigations and set the risk appetite level for the enterprise.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations affecting your business partners. Write and influence enterprise security policy.
  • Perform system data categorization and apply security control frameworks corresponding to the level of data sensitivity


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a US person, Permanent Resident or Green Card Holder
  • Proven track record as a Security Architect or Technical Lead, crafting new solutions and delivering business outcomes with experience in all aspects of architecture design
  • Proficiency in the following security domains: Information Security, Identity and Access Management, Network Security, Cloud Security, Incident Response, Application Security, Monitoring, Compliance, and Physical Security
  • Expertise in IoT/OT, including working with industry frameworks and security standards and designing scalable solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience of delivering security process change with a desire and ability to learn and implement new processes and technologies
  • Expertise in on-premise and cloud networking including secure protocols, routing, ingress and egress rules
  • Deep Windows and Linux administration experience
  • Familiarity with security control frameworks such as the CIS Critical Security Controls, ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, and NIST 800-53
  • Experience with federal regulations including DFARS, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and FedRAMP is preferred
  • Certifications such as CISSP are preferred
  • DoD Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance is preferred
  • May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.
  • Scripting experience in a language such as Python or Java
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts & Agile methodologies
  • Experience with cloud automation and container tool sets and methodologies
  • Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
