Overview
To support our growing team, we are looking for an Associate Engineer to work with our Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery team. You're the right fit if you love to solve problems and are always striving to learn new things. We're looking for self-motivated and self-driven engineers who are passionate about what they do and love technology.
You will be working on the CICD Engineering team, building products and tools that can help application teams mature their CICD pipelines and DevOps practices. The team also manages a data warehouse which provides data visualization and dashboards to many levels of engineers and leaders throughout the company to show progress towards reaching the company's security and DevOps goals. The products and tools we own help support the future development of the client and planner experiences for Northwestern Mutual. The team is located in Milwaukee and New York but has the opportunity to travel across campuses.
Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Soon to be college graduates (Dec or May 2022) encouraged to apply - can start out part time until graduation
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment practices
- Fast learner and self-starter. The people you will work with are incredibly kind and extremely willing to share knowledge and a helping hand, but you have to be willing to take ownership of the outlined goals and make things happen.
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet actively interact with other team members.
- Work collaboratively with application developers on CICD capabilities. The CICD team not only strives to build out the best capabilities that they can but also to help teams leverage that tooling.
- Bring new ideas and new ways of solving problems to the team.
Your Background and Skills:
- Proficient in at least one programming language (Java, Javascript, Python, GO, Groovy).
- Linux experience.
- Source Control Management - Git.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Use of a CI tool (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Travis, CircleCI).
- Public Cloud Experience (AWS) is a plus. Certifications preferred but not required.
- Containerization with Docker is a plus.
- Database/SQL experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef) a plus.
