Find your future with us.Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking an Associate Ceramics Research and Development Engineer to join our Extreme Environment Materials team in Huntington Beach, California. This role supports research and development (R&D) and production programs within Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Defense, Space, and Security, and Boeing Global Services.Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating, optimizing and implementing new ceramic, hot structure, and thermal protection system technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Supporting the manufacture of development and production hardware both in-house and at suppliers.
  • Performing tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to established requirements.
  • Regularly communicating with internal stakeholders to coordinate and resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and performance
  • Conducting analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience in ceramics, hot structure, or thermal protection systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science engineering, Ceramic engineering, Aerospace engineering, Mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with project management
  • An active U.S. Secret clearance or higher

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
