ROLE OVERVIEW
The Assistant Manager will ensure products meet all applicable client’s, TMS’s product specifications, requirements and country regulations. This person will work actively with all related internal and external parties (e.g. creative team, safety labs, factories) to ensure that the quality and safety protocols, procedures, processes, regulations, specifications and requirements are followed.
In this role you will focus on the company/client procedures and processes and be sure that they are well documented and traceable.
Job Relationships:
- Internal – Quality & Safety Teams, Creative team, Marketing team, Product Development Engineering, Supplier Chain, Production Engineering, SWA.
- Associated Business Units – McDonald’s and other clients.
- External –– Vendors, Factories, Suppliers, 3rd Party Labs, Subcontract Manufacturers, Raw Material Suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the product meets all applicable international legal and voluntary regulations, standards, TMS’s and client’s requirements.
- Conduct quality and safety review and risk assessment on concept and design, model, product and package / instruction sheet etc.
- Compile all required quality and safety documents, reports, checklists, procedures, processes control plan, testing plan and protocols.
- Review and follow up with factories on compiled documents, specifications, and reports.
- Engage in quality and safety review meeting, provide comments, and take appropriate actions.
- Engage in the design review meeting with internal and external parties and provide recommendation to ensure the safety of the product are covered at the development phase.
- Review and follow up with 3rd party laboratory documents and reports.
- Focus on working with factories on programs, processes, controls, and quality mutterers so as to meet all client’s and TMS’s requirements, needs prior to production.
- Handle special assigned project and research as required.
- Follow up on all quality issues found with products, in factories and markets.
- Conduct, facilitate, advise on corrective action and preventive action generation in product failure and defect analysis and monitor their effectiveness in implementation, in order to prevent any recurrence.
- Work with related parties (e.g. factories, suppliers, etc.) to improve the TMS factory base and product execution in order to consistently meet quality requirements and expectations and get things right the first time.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in engineering or relevant scientific/technical discipline.
- Problem solving ability.
- Good in communication, planning, organizing and negotiating skill.
- Knowledge of international toys safety regulation and standards.
- Experienced in international company, understand the global working culture (e.g. Europe, Asia)
- Quality & safety assurance expertise in toys, premiums and/or children’s products.
- Proven experience working in factories quality and safety control.
- At least 3 years working in quality and safety assurance.
- Factory experience an advantage.
- Good knowledge in a variety of toys, premium & children’s products mechanical, physical, and chemical testing methods and requirements.
- Good knowledge of a variety of toys, premium & children’s products manufacturing processes and controls.
- High integrity and business ethics.
- Team Player
- Able and willing to travel in US and/or SEA and other overseas countries as required.
- Able to work independently.
