Solution Architecture

Must be a current contractor with Cigna, Express Scripts, or Evernorth. Evernorth is a new business within the Cigna Corporation. This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

The Solution Architecture Function is responsible for developing IT solutions in support of business capabilities across the entire Cigna IT landscape. The Solution Architects understand existing business processes, the IT systems, applications, and services that support them, and how they interact with each other. Solutions are the blueprints of how the IT systems will be modified to support new business requirements. Solution Architects provide architecture support direction to projects by providing direction, guidance and definition of solutions that are in alignment with enterprise architecture standards, principles, and strategic direction. Solution Architects work closely with cross-functional business teams in a consultative manner to drive new business and/or meet compliance requirements and work in close collaboration with multiple IT delivery team teams in a matrix environment to influence enhancements, design, and mutual understanding of business needs.

Solution Architect
Provide architecture support to projects by defining solutions for IT projects that are in alignment with enterprise architecture standards, principles, and strategic direction. Work collaboratively with Senior Architects to create solutions that meet business needs and project time and cost parameters.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate on creation of end-to-end solutions that maximize alignment with target states and reuse of IT assets.

    Participate in building delivery team consensus, and monitoring and facilitating execution of such solutions.
  • Mitigate or resolve architecture risks and issues related to projects.
  • Work with application and integration IT staff within application delivery teams and technology groups as necessary to

    ensure that solution design and deployment stay consistent with logical architectures.
  • Participate in technical research and analysis and make recommendations on potential solutions to meet business

    need while working within the constraints and budgets.
  • Participate in vendor and tool selection in alignment with solution architecture
  • Adhere to architecture and design standards, guidelines, and processes. Provide input to refine processes as needed.
  • Create solutions that are appropriately sized to fit project time, budget, resource constraints.
  • Create solutions that adhere to the security standards of the company.
  • Communicate the "big picture" to delivery teams.

    Qualifications Required
  • BA/BS degree in MIS/Computer Science or related degree required.
  • 6+ years' experience in a variety of IT roles including: Delivery and Program Management
    • 2+ years' experience in IT architecture
  • Critical thinker - able to integrate company goals and objectives into an executable roadmap
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communications
  • Strong IT Technology Skills

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Healthcare IT
  • Agile development and architecture/delivery experience
  • Knowledge of modeling and diagramming in Visio, Sparx Enterprise Architect or other modeling products
