Job Summary
Comcast is establishing a new Platform and Product Architecture organization intended to provide an opportunity to develop company-wide architectural talent and seek some of the highest-leverage cross-platform design projects. The candidate would be part of a senior group that will provide recommendation and design guidance for Comcast and Sky senior leadership to drive smart investment across our technology portfolio. Our focus is to build common platforms that can be scaled and deployed across multiple organizations.

We are looking for experienced Architects looking to expand their knowledge of overall Comcast architecture, components and systems. These highly-functioning architects will work to identify strategic opportunities to allow for technology platform convergence. The program will allow outstanding networking opportunities across Comcast and Sky, ability to present recommendations to senior leadership, and education in cross-platform architecture to make more informed decisions. We are looking candidates to make a two-year dedication to this program.
Job Description

Program Outcomes

The program will allow the candidate to improve capabilities in the following areas:

• Drive consistency across the Comcast family technology stacks to improve scalability, operability, and reuse.
• Define and develop critical initiatives to improve technology platform convergence.
• Expand system level architectural knowledge across multiple domains at Comcast and Sky.
• Exercise and expand the technical and soft skills required to be a successful technical and architectural leader and influencer.
• Develop the relationships and visibility to provide senior leadership with mentorship and support for strategic investment decisions.
• Develop relationships with peers and other technical leaders to elevate and share technology standard methodologies across Comcast and Sky.
• Gain experience in developing business requirements, technical and product value proposition and recommending implementation options to teams across Comcast.

Responsibilities

• Working with engineering teams to perform high-level solution designs.
• Advising and supporting executive leaders on technical choices and associated risks and rewards of programs.
• Reinforcing and voicing support for grounding principles to ensure teams and programs pursue and maintain patterns that are stable, secure, scalable, reusable, and operable.
• Helping drive consistency of features across the ecosystem and reducing variations and inefficiencies that lead to increases in cost and time.
• Establishing common practices for teams to ensure end software and systems interact seamlessly with one another.
• Captures and understands business needs, finding key areas where technology leverage is possible to improve business processes, defines architectural approaches and develops technology proofs.
• Contributes to the overall system implementation strategy for the enterprise and participates in appropriate forums, meetings, presentations etc. to meet goals.
• Identifying architecture opportunities to support and bolster Comcast's global business objectives.
• Applies new and innovative ideas to old or new problems. Champions environments that encourages innovation.
• Contributes to and supports effort to further build intellectual property via patents.
• Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Experience:

• Minimum experience of Architect 5 or Engineer 5
• Design and problem-solving skills
• Strong troubleshooting skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership
