What does a great Application Operations Engineer do?

The Application Operations Engineer will provide technical product support by diagnosing and fixing operational issues with our high-volume transaction processing applications, products, and platforms. Using product knowledge, subject matter expertise and technical skills, you will provide the highest level of service to resolve the client/customer's issues and restore the client/customer to fully functioning status, while strengthening the client relationship. This position requires a versatile, highly motivated individual capable of supplying frontline technical and operational support to our Clients and their Customers, as well as internal Development, Implementation, Treasury and Accounting teams. As a vital part of the IT Application Operations team, this position involves working on complex systems and providing general technology support services, ensuring overall customer satisfaction, and full completion/resolution of support tasks. This position requires a high degree of organization and attention to risk, detail, and quality.

As a Application Operations Engineer, you can look forward to:

  • Serving as a technical resource on the Application Operations Team
  • Working closely with the internal Technical Services Teams as well as the Product Development organization to ensure that ongoing improvements are understood and prioritized correctly
  • Meeting with a client's technical team to explain our architecture and flow of the application processes and transactions and the benefit that it brings to the client and their customers
  • Participating in continuous improvement efforts
  • Staying current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Providing timely updates to Client Requests and Incidents via Service Now
  • Participating in weekly Operational and Technical reviews
  • Participating in on call rotations
  • Working in a team environment as well as independently and within an Agile methodology



Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • High School Diploma required. Associate's Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience.
  • 2-5+ years of work-related experience
  • Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail
  • This position requires a strong technical background in industry standard monitoring technologies, with the proven capability to implement and support complex environments
  • Must exhibit good time management skills; independent decision-making capability; focus on customer service
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Experience operating and supporting critical business applications
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve application issues
  • Strong communication, coordination, assertiveness, and comfort leading and driving results
  • Ability to make quick critical decisions to manage production incidents



Technical Requirements

  • Knowledge of UNIX, Linux, or Windows operating systems and architecture
  • Knowledge of MSMQ, IBMMQ, or ESB
  • Knowledge of .Net, C#, or Java
  • IT Service Management process skills
  • Project Management and Troubleshooting skills
  • Change Management Process skills
  • Experience with Service Now for Incident, Case, Problem and Change Management (or similar technologies)
  • Experience supporting web technologies
  • Experience supporting Autosys, CAWA, or similar scheduling tools
