onsemi is seeking a power electronics engineer to join the Mobile, Computing and Cloud conversion BU as an Applications Engineer. This job will be based out of Phoenix, AZ. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 2 years of experience in power electronics or a Master's degree with a specialization in power electronics is required. As an applications engineer you will be part of a fast-paced applications team that defines and validates mixed-signal power management ICs. This job involves a healthy mixture of theoretical analysis of power converters, simulation & practical bench work. Further, it also includes constant interaction with customers and onsemi employees based out of Europe & Asia and will involve some travel to support customers across the globe.

Performance Objectives:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate and validate new power management ICs for Ac-Dc conversion.
  • Build emulation platforms using FPGAs, microcontrollers etc.
  • Work with wide Bandgap devices (GaN & SiC) and create IP on controlling and driving high frequency topologies
  • Work closely with technical marketing to create marketing collateral & attend tradeshows.
  • Support design-in activities and sustain the product throughout the product life cycle.



  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Internship experience/Thesis in power electronics is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, and PFCs is a must
  • Knowledge of control theory, analog, and digital electronics is desired
  • Exposure embedded C and microcontroller programming is highly desired.
  • Exposure to SPICE & MATLAB or equivalent is desired
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
